I agree - Also I would take the position that satellite yards should only be allowed in KZN and Gauteng if the Cape trainers doing so have complied at home. I'm sure Snaith and Marshall will be fine. Such a pity to see such small fields on the best racing surfaces

It's a shame, but when you see the way races are run at Kenilworth are you surprised?

Just had a message from a Cape owner saying if they sorted the jockeys out maybe owners would get involved again

Not sure what he means

They chasing the small owner away,it be coming to expensive to have a share in a horse,i only had small shares in horses from 10% to 20%, that's what I could afford. I had my colours for 14 years, the last horse I had a share in was a 10% in one horse only, when colours had to be renewed it was at that time R1200 I think, that made no sense to me at all,a owner with 100 horses in training pays the same amount as me owning 10% of a horse. So that is why there no new owners, they have chased every small owner away, this game is for the rich only no more people like me,good luck to them looking for new blood.

This forum has been discussing the ongoing plight of Western Cape racing, for years..................the responses have always been defensive ,to say the least!
Shortly after "P"'s involvement, it was reported that financial returns had become positive ...........................clearly this letter suggests otherwise ....................last time around, Gold Circle got the blame .......whose fault is it now? B)
Will they ever survive without subsidy?

betting countrywide on the local product has been on the decline for years when you take inflation into account it is even worse ..when people on this forum and also the like s of Charles faul and some people from s.post come up with recommendations on how to improve it the people in charge simply turn a blind eye ...one only has to read the results from Phumelela year end reports to confirm the above but nothing seems to change at the helm..the fish stinks from the head

Why doesn't Mrs Rupert just buy all the racecourses in the Cape. She can then invite all those Billionaires on that Notice to race each other. That's basically what Cape Racing is all about now anyway.Cape racing is exactly like the SAUDI racing where the rich race each other jjust for honour or whatever!

Cape racing no better than Kimberley actually. Only difference is the quality of the horse. My apologies to all the Kimberley stalwarts.....
