Let's not let that detract from the purpose of this thread. I thought his name was Dumpy for months myself before being corrected.
I'm sure if he were to be reinstated now he'd have got the message and would pull up his socks.

I find this a hard call but just based on history the calls have not been professional and world class and the majority here have been complaining.

Its also good to have a personality in the game.

I am also and an old toppie and would hope there is a positive outcome and a place in the game where he can be rewarded for his many years contibution to racing.

I hear his voice shouting the horse I've backed home at Fairview before the off of the actual race itself. Bumpy has a particular way of emphasizing a horses name that is pretty unique.

There is no getting away from the fact that bumpy makes mistakes and irates punters when he makes errors , i have been in UK betting shops and heard punters and studio presenters laugh / take the piss out of his calls

I signed because like a most TT presenters he will probably be self employed and will likely walk away without a package like the guy that called there before

Has occurred to me this is why he's still being used on course and locally , so he still has a job ?

Cohen is a better commentator and will make less mistakes, but it must be harder calling from tv monitors ?

I listen and watch Port Elizabeth racing from here in Australia and I have no doubt that Cohen is the better caller. These races go all round the world. Racecalling is a young man's game.

Easy solution,have two commentaries and make Dumpy's a pay to view chanel for all he's hardcore fans that like listening to someone eating a dry Jacobs cream cracker while necking a beer.
