I have a decent one I think and "pleasantly" relevant as it concerns the clan. Some might remember or have heard the story before but anyway...
Back in the good old days, 4 or 5 years back I guess, before Winning Form (blardly stupidly not realising what an asset they had!!) decided to change the way they calculated their adjusted times, I was actually not a bad "selector" even if I do say so myself lol and it was not uncommon for me to find a trifecta or two.
Anyway, can't remember exactly what was said etc but out of the blue one day Maestro (Magi) pm'd me saying he liked this horse at Fairview (poss Arlington) that was about 25/1, and that it would lead from start to finish. It was in one of those typically big PE handicaps that are minefields. I told him that I was actually pretty strong on another 25/1 shot in the same race. Just a few minutes later, again completely out of the blue, Gregbucks pm'd me saying he liked this horse that was about 25/1. Almost unbelievably, it was for the same race but a third horse. I pm'd them both back advising the situation and suggesting we try small exactas and trifectas, a true fun idiot bet if ever there was one and one I did quite commonly back then. I am not sure maestro did it, Greg did it small, as did I but with the advantage of being able to take a price with B365 on the trifecta. Maestro's selection won it exactly as he foretold by an inch from mine closing rapidly with Greg's staying on (most beautifully lol) to get 3rd.
I think my stake was 35p x 6 for the trifecta, £2.10. It won me almost £8000 if I remember right.
Can't beat that kind of clanner collusion. I'm still pissed Maestro's beat mine though, was only because of trouble in running, honest... lol

After spending almost the entire day with them at hospital I was on my way home filled with excitement yet also concerned that my wife was going to be on Maternity leave. The thought of the bond and car repayments plus the added bills and and got me concerned and I wanted to win a lot of cash. Drove pass home along the M4 and straight to Sibaya casino. It was around 9pm. I started playing roulette and began to lose and lose and just lose. I was down 22150 & left with my last fifty bucks. I was absolutely concerned and clueless as to what to do next. I took the fifty and asked the dealer to place it on the number 0. Zero landed and from there I went on to win a total of 192500 all on the table. I walked out of there at 6am. I went home showered and changed filled with excitement but also kinda scared to tell her what had happened. To this day I never told her what had happened and vowed to myself to never carry bank cards to those kinda places again.. It's not a horse racing episode however this was the moment that stood out for me. I have lost in the totes as well as casinos but never that large again. It was my biggest win thus far.
This one is amazing thank you for sharing it. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't done my balls and had to bust my ass picking up extra shifts at a crappy job to make up for it more than once.
I can't imagine your relief and elation when you cashed in your chips... Well I can but not to that extent. Must have been something hey.
chicken n chips wrote: Walked into a TAB in Perth Australia had $45 to my name. Needed hire a sleeper van to take me to Queensland (5 days drive) to try my hand at bananas. Horse called Manor House running 33/1 Back it because I had worked iin Manor House North London so saw it as an omen. Stuck $20 on and it won. Had enough to hire the van, that's not the end. As I said it's a long drive so it was drive jump in the back sleep wake up have a wash drive stop eat stick in fuel carry on driving. Stopped in Port Augusta in South Australia went into a tab saw a horse called Snake Bite stuck $10 on it won at 20/1 great paid around $23 on the tote. So I decided to book a room for the night had a great shower went into town for a meal and overheard two guys talking horse racing. So me been me I said hi and started chatting. They gave me two horses for a meeting at Ipswich the next day. Took a tote double and won a massive $1450 When a couple of days before you had $45 then all of a sudden you have over $1700 it's huge, Made my way to Cardwell in Queensland worked on a banana farm and had the time of my life
Fortunately I have had other wins, like the rest of us, but that was significant as it was much needed.
it's sick in a way to say but the much-needed wins feel the best.

Personally I think he's a cross-dressing sex-change merchant but that's just my opinion of course :silly:

I have plenty losing ones but somehow my mind would appear to keep them in a dark corner ?
However I did win a union jack about 40 yrs ago (that's nine from nine) with a local bookie in the village mrs S was born in and we used some of the money to get married and still happy married 42 yrs later
Won lots of money on Mill Reef in the early 70 s
Had a bucket shop running for the year Roberto won the Derby put my entire hold from the factory on Lester to win and had to survive objection and a good cure for constipation!
The day Breathless won her maiden we took a bus to the big T with all our friends won last race and we were all on it and the ladies were all dressed in our colours
The next day in the Sunday times a big article "a scot gets lucky" we (georgie and me ) bought the horse for a grand each it was lot 29 ( my casino number ) and lots of more stories to follow but have to get to the pub (only to open not for a drink)
Cheers

Trouble is,it's starting to fade in memory and the realisation that it won't happen again is probably how arsenal fans feel about winning the premier league.
Over the moon is was Ray Winstones money though.

You just can't help yourself always having a dig at Arsenal. I am sure that you fancied an Arsenal fan but got turned down. Now where is the copy of my ticket when I backed them to go UNBEATEN an entire season
