Just read and very frustrating, it's bad enough all the costs and trying to find a race etc then get knocked back on an admin technicalities
It's normal for most owners to have businesses to run and treat this as a hobby but I would also expect the trainer to take some responsibility as he is running a business on behalf of the owner .

Yes, posted at the time that it was Striker that looked like he needed the run!
Wasn't it his first meeting back?He looked like he was exhausted!

I never worked on Tuesday,so only watched this race now when I saw the post.

There is absolutely no doubt that if nothing else Leige should have at least run 4th.

That surely means that the jock should get done for not riding the horse to get the best possible position.

Someone somewhere never got the qrt because of that ride.

The horse has been nominated for Sat and acceptances are at 11am this morning. Horse not accepted. He renewed his colours immediately and sent through proof of payement to them (11.30 am). I phoned the NHRA to see if they couldnt let it slide due to the situation.......... "No the rules are the rules" :P
Fantastic !! I accept the "rules are the rules." I only wish all "rules are the rules" in everything else are enforced to this degree !!
So I'll wait another 3 weeks + for a race, its not as though they were looking for horses to fill the race (7 accepted) :S

Spot on Neigh ,there is a big difference between an administrative rule (which they often overlook anyway, to save races)and rules that affect the vital integrity of the industry .............only those clowns could prioritise the wrong ones!
If they enforced all their rules ,without exception,I would respect their decision in the instance you describe ............but they don't!

You are all members of the NHA and every year they beg you to come, or send a proxy, or put your hand up.

How hard is it for any member to propose a rule change that says: "If a horse is about to be scratched because colours are not yet renewed, there will be a 2 hour grace to fax or email a proof of payment". (We've all been there, I would've voted for that).

Your fellow peers of white privilege and colonial hair styles will vote and democracy will work or not. Change, people, change! Work for it.

Otherwise just let Larry, Curly and Moe make up all the rules that suit them.

Gave up my colours so no longer a member ...just a punter who wishes that the NHA would regulate the industry in a competent manner.
That is a reasonable expectation but their record is not very good in that regard.

@RFaux

If you not a NHA member, then colours are a problem of your past.

As a punter, I wouldn't look at the NHA to have any rules that benefit you as an intention. Any benefit or protection you may get comes to you indirectly or just by accident.

As a punter you interface either with the very end of the Phumelela machine (the Tote) and they seriously don't give a F*** at maximum distance between management and consumer (ie Board and punter), or you deal with a variety of bookmakers where you at least have a chance sometimes to be heard.

To be honest, the relationship between the NHA and the punter must be like royalty dealing with someone from the toilet caste. Good luck with that. The NHA class don't even think punting is couth for a start, it's just something they need to live with.

Once you realize that punting is the scum side of the spectrum, you will see your place. The most respected names in horse racing do not punt. Isn't that the truth?
