Let us compare the Khumalo incident to match fixing, he was after all instrumental in throwing a race. The Cricket authorities have acted decisively and given career ending bans to those found guilty. The NHRA haven't had a hearing. Now lets ask what is happening in the Cobalt positives scandal? It has now been months and nothing is happening. The NHA are clearly not able to police this industry properly.

Sure they would have loved to be quick, but i reckon its the length of the ban they want to give? sure SA law is very anti about depriving a man a living?

Bob with respect this was a blatant act and one that could have been dealt with already.
Cobalt positives? Rumours are that a Gr1 winner returned a positive

The cricket incident dates back more than a year. Legal processes take time.

Peter the sentencing took a year, the affected cricketers were suspended immediately the investigations began.
Still no thoughts on the Cobalt positives boys?

The cricketers were suspended by their employer - presumably with pay, until guilt proven.
NHRA does not employ jockeys, so can't sanction until process is complete.

Peter we can go round and round with this and it doesn't help matters one bit. W e need a special investigations unit at the NHRA not a dom ex SAP detective

Not true OTA.
Matshikwe played Sunfoil Series right up to April, Symes played for the Highveld Strikers in the semi-pro setup when he could play after recovering from a back op. Mbhalathi kept at it for the Titans.
The only person who got an immediate bullet was Tsolekile (the captain of the Lions T20 outfit and likely ringleader). When I asked where he disappeared to after not seeing him at practices was told he was "injured".

I think this cobalt issue is a little complicated in that seeing it occurs naturally there has to be a threshold. question is the current threshold fair and reasonable and what happens if a horse exceeds it very marginally ? my understanding is the positives referred to were marginally above the limits as opposed to the aussie returns which were hundreds of times over any acceptable threshold thereby indicating malicious intent in oz but no intent here. an argument could be made that the local limits are not yet fairly set.
that said I understand the local trainers got off on a technicality that the nhra did not distribute the levels and the penalties to all the trainers so they cannot be held responsible for positives, obviously if this is correct then the mind does indeed boggle and nhra look really incompetent. as is often the case I may have the cat by the balls here so don't take this as gospel
