Mark Sutherland was 2nd choice rider for the powerful Terence Millard yard and was in Felix Coetzee's shadow to put it crudely.
However he did get good rides from the stable and won the Durban July on the filly Tecla Bluff (Arg).
He was also aboard the good Mark Anthony although cannot recall if he rode the horse in The Queen's Plate and Met victories.

Mark also won the Met for David Payne aboard Fearless Streaker. Not sure if he won it on more than one occasion.
Felix was first choice, Mark 2nd choice. Who can remember the 3rd jockey who was attached to the yard ?
