Horse deaths in the UK
8 years 7 months ago - 8 years 7 months ago
110 horses have lost their lives on UK tracks this year (flat and jumps)
1446 have lost their lives on UK tracks in the last 3502 days
Shocking.

all shorts of reasons, mostly broken legs, heart attacks. Some have died when hitting their heads up against the starting stalls. Very disappointing to see these figures.

It's the ones you never hear about that I worry about, not the figures above

Also I would only take my figures from official sources like the BHA , as there are sites out there like PETA and Horsedeath.com that fabricate figures

took the figure of deathwatch which names the horses plus the date of death, the track and cause of death. So cant see that as a fabrication of the facts

You can probably add a zero to the figures if they count the slow ones that are found a " good home "

3 a week is 3 too many. Yes its a dangerous sport but surely these horses do not deserve to die on a race course.

That is correct, the alternative is to never live
I think there is 20000 horses registered in the U.K.
3 a week is a tiny %

I agree with you, let 3 jockeys die a week then shit will change

...and here in South Africa we still continue to race with 'hard' rails; which endangers both horse & rider.
