The reason that they have refused to refund is ignorance IMO- they will when the lights come on!
(It was declared null and void by their own shareholders  )
It was announced before showing the race on Tellytrack.
An employee of "P" acting within the scope of his employment, made an unqualified announcement that the 4th race at Jebel Ali was null and void!
I am sure that Bettingworld,as part of the group, are morally obliged to honour that announcement and may well ,in the circumstances,be legally obliged to!
.....yeah it's for sure becoming the norm....was gonna post yesterday when I tried to place bets the only option that came up online was for a P3.....so no swingers trifecta or any other pools were accessible.....what I don't understand is then the only default is to declare the race null and void only because they can not get a decent cut of a poor betting pool....in the past when errors like this happened and they had not yet learned to cancel the race they had the strangest payouts....fav paying R123 for a place...etc
.....I believe that if Betting World does not want to drag their already tarnished name further in the muck...... they should refund.....that over paid big P clown should act before punters boycott and close them down....

C'mon lads this is not difficult and imvho BW have acted appropriately. The race was run. The race was not cancelled. TOTE betting on the race was voided. The result stands and winners settled. Losers sorry for you. Theres nothing to see here. Move on

Fixed Odds Bets stand on the correct field sheets and correct runners. All open bets declared null and void. Once again the Tote shown up with errors and bookies have fixed odds betting on the race.
Naresh you are 100% correct and your question of what bet was wagered is still yet to be answered.
If you backed a loser on the books get on with it and let it be.

bettingworld have done the correct thing here and remember there was a winner so if the moaners on here had backed the winner how would they feel if bettingworld declared the race null and void and not not paid out..zero case move on and stop talking from your pockets

....could only have been a book bet.....BW do not offer the open bet.....it would be interesting to know which bookies.... if any.... refunded book bets simply because they encourage a good relationship with their customers.....I understand the rules is rules theory from a styled corporate like BW.....but they do very little to try build the type of relationships that make punters want to come back for more......I was not always a tote bloke.....my early days were also with bookies for relationship and big value.....when those qualities were no longer on offer and their take was not finding its way back into the game....I got stuck with no better ...but some of my churnover does make its way back into the game.....

Muhtiman have you been sampling some of your product? If you are alluding to the fact that bookmakers should refund customers due to P being inept in their management of an event then I seriously think you need some help. Pirates correctly made the point that there were people who backed the winner on the books - why should they not be paid?

The race was not void, fixed odds bets would not have been returned

Discussed this with a betting firm and was told that the results posted was true and correct from the centre where the race was run. The error was on TAB South Africa (clowns of the biggest order) and does not affect the results of the said race world wide. NHA or other statutory racing bodies in SA have no jurisdiction in declaring this race NULL and VOID.
As said on this forum from those in the know, now take it on the chin and move on!

......I suppose I should capitulate and say that if the bookies continue to try be the good guy and refund bets in good faith.....they would be on a hiding second to none....because the TAB is getting worse.....

There was an issue With an early quick mix not long ago.The tote sheet made a mistake with the times so they voided the bet.The races where run yet one bookmakers firm refunded the bets saying they go with what the tote pays out.In this instance why didn't they work out the fixed price of the winners in the four legs and pay that dividend?

IMO you are right ,except the point that remains relevant... a Phumulela presenter, representing Phumulela announced the abandonment of an entire race(not specific bets).
Independant bookmakers are justified in ignoring "P" incompetence but why should "P" bookmakers(ie Bettingworld) be immune,at least morally, from "P" errors?
(every race that has ever been abandoned has almost certainly had winning tickets ...so the point is??)

......on the other hand....we have yet to learn of a punter that has a decent winning bet on such a null and void race.....goes to collect.... and his bookie tells him......boet have I not given you a few breaks on refunds on tote errors.....is it not time you return the favor.......
