Sad indeed....for his kids, wife and also himself.
I see the other suspect's husband is involved in a charity....I would be auditing it if I was involved in that charity....hard to believe he didn't know his wife is up to no good.

Terribly sad. It was last year at this time he was at his peak with Abashiri and the triple crown. A year later, the man is found dead in Centurion. Very sad and tragic. Regardless of what wrong might have or not have been done

Why kill yourself because you messed up. How old was he? 40? If found guilty he may have gotten 5 years and walked after 3 for good behaviour. He would have come out penniless but could have started again. Yes no company would have touched him but he could have sold his story to get going again. Now his poor kids have to live the rest of their lives with the question why and they will never get an answer. That's the saddest part of this whole saga.

Lyndon Barends, MD of the National Horseracing Authority, says horse racing has no questions to answer in the case of owner Adriaan van Vuuren who has allegedly defrauded Telkom subsidiary Trudon of more than R500m.
The High Court in Pretoria has reportedly granted an order freezing the bank accounts of Van Vuuren, employed by Trudon as an IT manager.
Barends said on Thursday "it was near impossible to detect pro-actively" that illegal funds were being used.
"In his [Van Vuuren’s] case, he was definitely deemed desirable as he was portrayed as an up-and-coming businessman who is investing in the sport."
Barends said the intense scrutiny to which owners had been subjected in the past, had changed "over time to ensure the elitist tag can be removed".
"Over the last decade or more, horse-racing stakeholders have made numerous efforts to be more inclusive and went out of its way to attract new owners to the sport"

From BBC to News24 and various other media always have an obituary for the famous, celebrities, dictators, infamous etc. Even Bloodhorse have had obituaries about undesirables in racing or had an article on their death. I wonder if Sportingpost or any other racing publication in South Africa will have one. After all he, Van Vuuren, was the last winning owner of the SA Triple Crown and contributed immensely to the Breeders pocket in South Africa.

Someone sold Oomph for 5 bar so that statement isn't entirely correct.

I think talking about money after yesterday's terrible news is in poor taste.

Sure Easy it probably is in poor tastes but remember money caused this tragedy and the greed of mankind.
