the small field will help him - if it were a proper size I doubt he could finish ahead of Al Sahem and Heavenly Blue

Al Sahem and Smiling Blue Eyes for me. Strange that in the 3 big features on the day Tarry will be saddling up the favorites and Bling will not be on any of them.

PHUMELELA MEDIA RELEASE
SUBJECT: Final fields for SA Classic, Wilgerbosdrift SA fillies Classic and other feature race entries
DATE: Thursday 23 March 2017
RELEASED BY: Phumelela Gaming

Both Janoobi and Smiling Blue Eyes have accepted to run in the R2-million SA Classic and R1-million Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic respectively.
Both Grade 1 races, which comprise the respective second legs of the SA Triple Crown and Wilgerbosdrift SA Triple Tiara, will be run over 1800m at Turffontein on Saturday 1 April.
Janoobi won the Grade 2 Betting World Guineas and trainer Mike de Kock has opted to try him over 1800m, especially as he has started to settle down in running and has stopped pulling so hard.
Piere Strydom has retained the ride and they will jump from No 8 draw.
AL Sahem was described as “still dumb” by jockey Anthony Delpech after his mount was narrowly beaten by Janoobi in the Guineas but Sean Tarry’s charge should enjoy the additional 200m and is a lively contender.
De Kock will also be looking for Heavenly Blue to crack his first Grade 1 win and the manner in which he ran on for third place in the Guineas indicates this race could be his best chance. Callan Murray takes the ride once again.
Kampala Campari has run his three races at Kenilworth and will be having his first outing on the Highveld. Andre Nel’s charge is a two-time winner and tries 1800m for the first time. He is the one unknown factors in the race as he has loads of room for imporvement.
Smiling Blue Eyes did everything right to win the Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas, overcoming a wide draw to convincingly beat the field by 2.60 lengths. She looks to have all the necessary attributes to be a Triple Tiara winner and from No 6 draw this time and over a longer distance, she will be widely tipped to win the SA Fillies Classic. Raymond Danielson retains the ride.
The entries for the other feature races on the day have also been release and the Grade 1 HF Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes over 1600m sees the return of last year’s champion Legal Eagle. If anywhere close to peak fitness Tarry’s charge will be hard to beat.
The final fields for all the other races will be announced on Tuesday 28 March.

Was there a reason for Kissable's dismal last run?

The former two which one of them is Let It Rain is a classic example of merit ratings whereby Let It Rain if it wins has to beat all of French Navy, Deo Juvente or Brazuca who are all of 11kgs to 15.5kgs better off. Plus all of them has been placed or won a Grade 1. Even Samurai Blade is ahead of Let It Rain who also has been Grade 1 placed. All of these horses just has to bring their "B" game to the race today that's how far they ahead.

Today will prove merit ratings is no bull... and is one of the tools that has to be used to your advantage.

Goodluck to you and your clientele on Let It Rain.

I ended up making LIR a weak LS but a LS nonetheless.Obviously I know he was,on class a weaker horse than those and the trip was too short, but since I knew the pace would be hot I was hoping he would finish off well...unfortunately I'm still waiting for him with my water bucket, lol.
