Personally I have decided to ignore the ratings of that race due to "prepping"
However if you use the winner and runner up , Marinaresvo remains the most consistent 108 in South Africa.......,,good horse but no champ!

Looked a champion in the making heading up to last years VDJ but unfortunately lost a bit of it's shine since.

even though I thought yesterday 1400 was mighty short for MARINARESCO - I DID TAKE on offer 35 / 1 yesterday & July.

Horizon was hardly impressive - perhaps Bernhard will stick with MARINARESCO for his July ride.

He will have to improve his rating dramatically to get in

Won't stable jock have first choice?

As I understand it, Bernard will get first choice of the Snaith runners- I would think Bela Bela at this stage. Aldo will get first choice of the C Robinson runners, which looks like Marinaresco.

Folks, the July is a handicap. Don't go looking for the best horse to win the race. Look for the best HANDICAPPED horse to win the race. Subtle difference.

Yip ... as things stand, one of the better handicapped horses imo - set to carry the same weight as last year (should Captain America run), where Marinaresco will be carrying 4 kgs more ....

Any thoughts on Captain America's run on Saturday? I was surprised he was not handier.

Saratoga a really decent, consistent money machine.
