a bit of clarity for the uninformed or mis informed
1: i said i " might be"
2: the ride on the winner was appaling he won because the rides in behind were worse
3: the rides in behind were (the worse word to describe them that i dont know) because had anyof them attemopted to be closer the winner runs unplaced
4: Any speed duel or pressure exerted by another horse in proximity 9/10 times ruins the chances of the pace setter as it keeps him honest
5: Milton is NO SLOUCH so surely race riding should be applied???????? or are you really tellimng me that if they run that race again he will go 15 legths clear????

Point number 4. Since the topic heading has Sham in it....
Sham after running second to the mighty Secretariat in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness tried to have a speed duel with Secretariat in the Belmont but faded into oblivion.

Perfect example Naresh
Good race and especially in CPT......
If the rest of the field tried to pace it with Milton in the early stages and they fell in hole then there would be another list of complaints....

Naresh
that is one of my 6 year olds bed time stories that i tell him.So i know it quite well
I think you will find that Secretariat was a bit special. He ran 1200m in 1:09 and change. Most thorughbreds on the planet would have fallen away that day
BUT
As others hasve pointed out no matter what i say there is always someone out there to put it down.
Luckily for me
1: im paid for an opinion in this industry
2: i invest in this industry as an owner and punter
3: im asked by a few in the industry for my opinion
4: i dont give a continental when people are having a go for the sake of it. If you can tell me that race was correctly rumn then fair enough its your opinion BUT i would love to be your bookie.

Easy - unfortunately not all horses have the pace to have a speed duel with a horse who has more natural early speed than anything else in the race - would you have liked the rest of the jocks to have had the stick out on their mounts after 200m just to try keep up with the winner??? They would have all compouded in the straight trying to keep up with Milton - watch the race again and see what happened to Kilrain becoz the jock tried keeping up with that pace set by Milton!

The reason racing is in the shit that its in is because of acceptance of mediocrity and lowering of standards.
Read what im writing, race riding can produce results that are not " to form"
Was there any doubt Miltion would go to the front? Well then the only thing you can control after that is how far behind him you are.
And giving him 15 lengths start is shocking. So yes i think they should have been closer and ridden to do so, at least we would know the true result and form. In the "old days" tactics emplyed from the saddle mean that often race riding won the day.
THATS is still the case but with a slight twist, in these days race riding loses the day.

So if Miltons race was a fix what can one say about the below race
The usual comeback will be well its Frankel.
