The reason racing is in the shit that its in is because of acceptance of mediocrity and lowering of standards.
Read what im writing, race riding can produce results that are not " to form"
Was there any doubt Miltion would go to the front? Well then the only thing you can control after that is how far behind him you are.
And giving him 15 lengths start is shocking. So yes i think they should have been closer and ridden to do so, at least we would know the true result and form. In the "old days" tactics emplyed from the saddle mean that often race riding won the day.
THATS is still the case but with a slight twist, in these days race riding loses the day.
I have seen the videos of the last eight times Milton ran. Four Times he went to the front stretching out and four times he raced just off them.
Conclusion - The four times he went to the front stretching them he got beaten, by Catkin, Whisky Baron and Victorious Jay. The only time he won was on his latest start and that to it was by a diminishing margin. Trainers will have summarized the race for the jockeys if Milton goes to the front, in all likelihood he is going to stop late. The problem is, he compounded only close to the line.

i have not got the time to find you all the pathetic front runners that have fallen in a hole due to being pressured.
All you can come with is Frankel and Secreatriat and a sprinter Tommy Hotspur
i think you all just arguing for the sake of it.
Race 1 at Turfies today the winner won the race due to a poor ride from others in behind. Cheap speed is not the same as contested speed. BUT because its easy saying it its wrong.

Those jockeys were all sleeping behind Frankel CnC - they should have put more pressure on him! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Please see my explanation of Milton last eight runs. He got beaten three times going to the front with no other horse rushing him....

Just giving examples. Front runners often win when they find a 2nd wind. Nobody is picking on you just for the sake of it.

Pace decides the race and you can work out the pace of the race before the race is run according to Heinrich. I wonder what he told his clients that day of Miltons win

come on how many times have you got it wrong on atr, on the otherhand you have pulled out some beauties, so credit to you there, but why groan about this one particular race. Draw a line and move on.

cnc
i (and others ) will get it wrong more often than not. My point is that i believe this race was poorly run. I voiced my opinion.
When The Lion Guard ran his 2nd start for Lezanne I called her in the morning he was 50/1 and i told her i epxect him to win
She said " wow that is alot of pressure to put us under , i mean he is 50/1 "
I then told her what i expected and how Tristen should ride the horse, I GAVE the instructions.
He rode the horse perfectly to the tee, he could NOT have ridden it better. We ran 3rd. I and others that backed it were over the moon, we got beat but we were happy , happy because he rode the race according to the field, the draw, the instructions etc etc.
So what im saying is i have an opinion, sometimes it fails but i have no doubt in my mind Milton was a lucky winner.
This is not always about winning and losing. You can have a very very succesful operation BUT still declare the patien dead.

Easy, you must have the longest tongue in the world, from constantly having to lick your self inflicted wounds, nobody is having a go at you, most just disagree with your opinion. My 5 cents is to listen to what Peter D had to say, the owner of the second placed horse, he sums up the race perfectly. Right or wrong we all have an opinion its not personal.
I recon the jocks behind were waiting for Milton to come back at them and when he didn't the chase was left to late. Nothing underhanded, just a small judgement error.

Everybody is entitled to an opinion and believe it or not i respect yours. But when you cry about a race that rightly or wrongly was not what you perceived it to be you do go over board with it.
