We really should not be surprised - pure incompetence yet again
61.6.1.1 no HORSE shall be started from a stall other than that allotted by the draw;
Both horses that started from incorrect stalls SHOULD HAVE BEEN DECLARED NON RUNNERS AND ALL BETS ON THEM REFUNDED. It is as clear as day.
The problem is the stipes were blissfully unaware of the problem and declared the result final. I bet Shearer shat himself when he was informed of the incorrect loading of the two horses, more incompetence exposed.

So what will happen there now?Will the people who backed the horse get their money back?Well that is what the rules state.

Did not watch a race or even see the card... And I totally agree a disgrace... but my question is, Did the Jock on the favourite not realise this (dont even know who the jock was)? Surely he did his homework prior to the race and knew how many runners he had on his outside and what stall he was drawn in?... not making.excuses, just adding to the questions...

Imvho the responsible individual would be the starter.

Correct, it is the starters fault but what is the duty of stipes? All they seem to do is eat, drink and have a good time. When are they going to start doing when they are employed to do?

Having spent some time working in the employ of the jockey club it's quite unbelievable that a punter at home picked this up and nobody involved. Not the starter or the assistant starter or the handlers or indeed the jocks themselves noticed anything wrong. Neither the stripes or any RA people or directors at the course noticed it was wrong. UNBELIEVABLE truly UNBELIEVABLE. in the time I was there each race is worked out by the starter and his team before the meeting starts. The order in which they are to load (according to their starting stall certificates) and the gate numbers are all in place long before the meeting starts . Not sure if this is still the case but for EVERYONE to miss this is just UNBELIEVABLE. But a punter sitting at home picked it up!!!!. Let's watch and see how the ringmaster deals with the clowns.
