when you see cards like today it further enhances the argument for racing to close down for a few weeks in august

I agree 100% we have 2 poly tracks and a sand pit and green grass in the Cape for betting - The Gauteng tracks need a rest

Very competitive handicap racing bar the first .... thoughts:

R2: Bally Swiss first choice after a narrow win last time - has the draw and is a winner in her only start this trip; Queen at War 2nd choice - drawn wide but should hold Moss Gas who also has not drawn that great; much tougher imo for Last Girl Standing who has it all to do at this track - but if the pace is on she could be the one running on best into the places; preference of the Alexander runners is Ladies Club - also drawn wide though and said to need the run - BS or go wide in the BP

R3: Looks a 2 horse contest between Pure Blonde who is my first pick and Arabian Beat; Sporting Monarch and Just as I Said seem held at the weights but could fight out 3rd; interesting that the trainer thinks that Ronnie Rocket is at best this trip - imo he is better over 1000, but is a winner this trip - so 'upset' possibility with Gavin riding

R4: Not easy .... first choice for me is Western Warrior who ran a fair race last time and has still come down 3 points in the ratings, winner this trip and this is a weak race imo; 2nd choice is Hot August - nice draw and has has some fair form at this track - imo will find it hard to give WW 4 kgs; Gun Fighter and Snow in Seattle are both yet to shape at this track, but this is such a weak lot that they could be fighting out 3rd with Stark

R5: Cataluga has a lot going for her - course specialist and in good form so must be first choice here; Celtic Lady has come down in the ratings, but from a good draw and with Gavin riding could be 2nd best here; Varsity Princess did not beat a whole lot when winning first time out, but has scope for improvement so not to be ignored completely; next in line for me is Lakahal who has the benefit of pole position and a good jock; Burgundy Rose can also feature if overcoming the draw

R6: Very tough low level fillies and mares handicap; 'short' list in order of preference - Sammi Moosa (in form, likes this track and Gavin rides); AP Chanel (narrow last win, and 2 wins at this track), Russian Friend (wide draw and prefers a longer straight imo); Cranberry Crush (big penalty for last win, but 2 wins out of 3 have been at this track); September Bloom (has had a busy last 4 months and not at best at this track); roughies to consider include Cosmor Russe - interesting Zackey abandons Cranberry Crush for this one, and she has Sammi Moosa held on maiden form (her only try over 2000) - wide draw but could be running on to upset; real roughie to maybe consider is Snow Path, whose rating has come down 18 points in the last 5 months ... only way to be sure to survive the exotics, is to take the field ....

R7: Maybe slightly easier than the previous race (only 10 runners here ;) ) - obvious contenders imo in no particular order are Parisienne Chic (Gavin again from a good draw), Return to Power (beat Silvery Dream by more than 4 lengths and SD then came out to win by almost 4 lengths), Bondi Blue (in good form and a winner in her only try this trip), Bright Bronte (in form, but does seem held by Bondi Blu) and Rose Water (last run too far and always thereabouts this trip); roughie Seal My Fate (definite chance on previous form before her rest and now could be ready to return to that form in her 3rd start after that break); then there is Brightnumbersix who tries this distance - sibling Gains Tax seemed to get the trip - who knows ?

R8: Not the easiest close either; perhaps Tirzan can build on his handicap debut and he is my first choice from Racing Socks (Gavin again) and Inn a Million (probably needs a longer straight); Triple Vortex beat a weak field but only has his 4th start, so more improvement possible; Gentleman Only in form but does have something to find at the weights here; dark horse could be Skynight, who has developed breathing issues, but of these have been sorted by some miracle he would imo beat these at the weights (only 3 lengths behind Wild Brier and 4 behind Gold Cup runner Royal Honour in the beginning of this year)

Enjoy B)

I don't think anyone on this forum liked Ice Art today.Alston was talking like it couldn't get beaten.Like okes where saying these tipsters just seem to go by the betting and tip the favorites most times.Personally I don't listen to what they got to say and take note of what the clanners are saying.

Like I stated yesterday MR too high, Race 1. Ice Art went off at 5/10 last start. How did it achieve a MR 80 finished second to a MR 59. First start finished behind two runners rated MR 49 and MR 50. When last did Azzie win with a odds on.

You sure did Form Fundi. You saw that yet our on course tipsters(who get paid)don't think even bothered to have a look at who beat Ice Art in previous races. They see 5-10 so they banker the horse.

I agree, they don't do their homework, only follow the betting. Anyone can tip the top 2 or 3 in the betting and banker a odds on. I have stopped listening to them, only tipster I enjoy and feel does study the form and watch replays is Dom.
