Somebody's making it look like a problem. These mini timing chips have been used in cycling and running for years. Not much bigger than half your little finger
I will give you a hint : - he went to France for a meeting - Just so happened that the Arc was that weekend . Came back with nothing.

The truth of the matter is several years ago I tried to do a deal with Trackus to come to SA to speak to the Racing people here to introduce sectional timing, when Trackus contacted certain people in SA they told Trackus that I had no say in SA racing and should not be taken seriously, apparently when they inquired what was needed in order to install Trackus they decided that the fiber optic cable needed to run around the course would be far too expensive,,some years after that the late Henly Schoombie and I had done some business (not racing related) with an Argentinian software company,, part of their scope of work in Argentina was to keep the space shuttle in constant contact with the North American universities, I then had the idea to bring them here and first approached Phumelela and others in Gauteng to do sectional timing for SA horseracing proposing we use the Argentine company, I wanted to put the info on Formgrids to enrich SA racing,,,, Phum and others in Gauteng said they were not interested in internet punters, their focus they said was only on the R20 tote punter whom they said was the backbone of the betting market in SA, when I suggested that this was madness they pulled out surveys done shortly before by them to support their argument,, . one day at the sales at TBA I suggested to Graeme that as GC and Formgrids have a existing relationship we should move on sectional timing for SA, Graeme said GC would def be interested and set a date for a meeting with the board
Henly and I then paid for the owner of the Argentinian company to fly to SA, we gave him an upfront fee for his time and paid his hotel accommodation we then headed to Durban where we had a board meeting with GC, at the board meeting I suggested we include Simon Burgess from AUS as he had a footprint in Asia and Australia through his media company and the plan was to get it right here in SA and then export the product,, we also took one of Henlys associates with who had software that could be inserted in helmets and the live race could be viewed real time,, GC and Henly formed a company called Sportstrac and money was put into Sportstrac company account which Henly controlled, they sponsored jockeys etc,,,, however several months later the board decided to use a local company because paying in dollars could become too expensive, at the request of Henly I found a local company and introduced them to Henly who then introduced them to the GC board, they took over the Argentine's shares and started working with Sportstrac, I attended and assisted at all the initial trials, it was no secret, we put the chips into the saddle cloths and saw proof of life from upstairs in the boardroom,, we then heard that Phum had given 1m to LW to go to India to source sectional timing software, as we were at an advanced stage Henly and I met with LW at Turffontein and suggested he and Phumelela join forces with GC and work together on the project to be uniform for the entire SA under one system but LW said they were not interested ,,, back in Natal some cash was given to the software company and when the local company wanted more Henly did not to give it to them as he wanted them to reach a certain level before giving more cash,, and that's when the fight started between Henly and the new software guys, they then took some info regarding Henly to GC and he was then summoned to a meeting in Dbn to show stock that he had purchased for the project and once he never turned up to the meeting he was shunned by all, he apparently was hospitalized at the time, and round about that time I heard I was not included in the shareholding of Sportstrac,, however when I confronted Henly about this he said that although my name was not on the shareholding I was included in his 17%, it was always agreed that Formgrids who started the project would get the sectional timing info.
When I heard that Henly apparently owed x amount to Sportstrac I contacted GH and said I had an investor who would put the x amount in and take over Henlys share which was half of the 17% that he and I owned however things moved on and I was kept out of the loop although a statement was made on TT by GH confirming that Formgrids would be included to be getting the sectional info

If there is nothing to hide you have to ask why the secrecy.
Is it because certain individuals are receiving either monetary or information advantages?

All i can tell you is the "brick" they expected to bounce up and down on the horses back was denounced by jockeys and trainers. It was then reintroduced after we had been told at a trainers meeting that it had been shelved. I refused to saddle with it and was told that i would attend an inquiry. This as of now has not happened.Since that day early august we have not had them in.
FYI the Brick is the size of a half tv remote and sat in a pouch behind the saddle and bounced on the backbone of the horse. I will attempt to post pics at the races today
PS If this was the size of a thumbnail we would readily saddle with it and the jockeys would ride with it. We are right behind all the info we can get !!

how is it that the operator is relying on an outsider to (help) fund a system such as this. And seemingly agreeing to data usage privy for the investor. Operators should be funding an information dissemination system on their own and supplying this data along with other race information free of charge (downstream to Formgrids), to help and attract punters. ref. HK, Japan.

same with barrier trials. Should be standard operation and data included along with usual race information to the press and punter information sites etc.
I'm not asking, I'm saying.

7 years 9 months agomr goodman how about we try and get the owner of this company onto your show winning ways and get these issues out into the open instead of the normal wishing it away scenario the operators love to do?the good wrote: All i can tell you is the "brick" they expected to bounce up and down on the horses back was denounced by jockeys and trainers. This would be great, but who pays? The racing staff already some of the worst paid in the world!

Cancel the Jockey International and use those funds. The RA receive 12 million a year from all owners through the nominations and acceptances - use that cash. Cancel the R500000 a year contract for the RA website and use that cash. Cancel all contributions to Racing Its a Rush and use that cash. I think theres more than enough funding available. The problem is those on the take will not get paid.
