I'm not asking, I'm saying.

This would be great, but who pays? The racing staff already some of the worst paid in the world!

Cancel the Jockey International and use those funds. The RA receive 12 million a year from all owners through the nominations and acceptances - use that cash. Cancel the R500000 a year contract for the RA website and use that cash. Cancel all contributions to Racing Its a Rush and use that cash. I think theres more than enough funding available. The problem is those on the take will not get paid.

Your underestimating the cost, I reckon barriers would cost 100's of millions

please bob in natal 98 PERCENT OF HORSES are stabled at either summerveld or ashburton and barrier trials are only needed for first timers and horses who are coming back from a rest of 3 months or more so go through each racecard and tell me how many horses per meeting that is?in gauteng the same occurs with the horses been stabled at randjies tftein and the vaal ..

Its fcuking simple because we only have 2 operators they dont give a fuck and they have to try and look like they trying to do something but in essence they go through the fcuking motions ..i have seen it with tellytrack and most other sectors within the operators

Bob I think it is you that underestimates the financial ability the RA has.

If you peruse the 2016 RA Annual report, PG 29 of the report reveals that the RA holds R 105 083 383 in unit trusts. Thats ONE HUNDRED AND FIVE MILLION RANDS WORTH. Not bad for an association not for profit you would think, wouldn't you?

I wonder who receives/d commission for this business? The unit trust amounts have been showing very disappointing growth over the years....

I don't think the cost would be much at all - have them before a meeting weekday- starters stipes etc already there -
Also I have found out that sectional timing is going on in Gauteng every few meetings(races) - I was told that the original transmitters were the size of a cellphone and were being stolen - the newer ones are much smaller and the trainers don't seem to mind them... But nobody seems to know what's happening with the data as all the infrastructure was put into place(Vaal) I don't know if Turffontein is the same...
I just wonder how the organizers of the Comrades Marathon were so far ahead of time that all atheletes use a timing chip since 1997!! Now surely if that chip can be carried by a human then with noral advancements horses can use a similar system or am I being naive?

I'm all in favour, but I think the cost would be thrown st the owners

BARRIER TRIAL FEE RISE

I was absolutely astounded to hear from our NSW Trainers Association Chief Executive Steve McMahon that either the ATC or Racing NSW without any real warning have raised the price of metropolitan barrier trials without any consultation, they have raised the cost of metro barrier trials. The price of trialling a horse now will be $220 up from $170. This is just another burdened on the poor owners and it will eventually be a hindrance on the punter.

The owners pay for everything regardless of how things are spun.

This is an excellent idea.

Get the person responsible for the system to come in and explain how far the concept is down the road and why it is not being implemented.

Get Wainstein and a GC representative to join, explain how far down the road this is and why it is not being implemented. Ask them what has the data processed from these trials been used for and who has had access.

1/50 two of the 3 invited will decline the offer to partake in the show

Good idea, pity if no show, all that is required is a bit transparency on this long outstanding issue.
