Mr H, you will just have to wait and see. Everything you say I agree with when measured against the predictable and available products currently on offer.
When skill is properly rewarded in life changing pools and proves more winnable and with better average returns than Lotto, then people will get involved. Right now your skill helps you in racing but still guarantees you very little in the current exotics.
Our standard exotics are ok but lacks real kick for players as it doesn't treat players fairly with decent rewards for finding tougher selections. You could find three of four long shots in the P6 and get no reward for it. Should never be this way in a creative product and this I would like to address.
Racing has amazing possibilities that have not been explored yet and that will make the open bet a lot less appealing. When all money goes into the pool because it makes sense to support and the format attracts new players the pools will be unbelievably exciting.
