Turffontein inside Saturday 9/9
7 years 9 months ago
Early thread; a nine race program that kicks off at 12.05.
Race 4
The three form horses here are Silken ,Dalley and Bandola. The first two have been at it before over this course and distance but there's a bit in it for Silken this time around .They get top jockeys again but my preference is for Bandola.
The Marwing runner carried two kilograms more then Dalley for a three length beating when they last met but they go an extra 200m here.
She's been brought along steadily and every thing points to her being up to the task
Betting
Dalley 6/10
Bandola 22/10
Cranberry Crush 8/1
Silken 10/1
12/1 bar

Mydada your point noted wrt the weight turnaround between Dalley and Bandola . Would love to see that race as it appears that Dalley did win a touch cosily. Delpech back up as well the other positive.

These are such poor contenders that the best of them is 20/1 Sailor Man 100% Top 3 Record this C&D. Hampton Court was strongly fancied on debut , had some respiratory issues, rested and should be much better than that run - but 8 or 9 lengths bettter? The Marwing horse was also backed in from 25//1 - 8/1 on debut?
All of this led me to question why one stable has five runners in one race --- and I was drawn to race 1039 which was won by Like Astair -- Raise A Flag finishing 2nd at 100/1 and He's Great 3rd at 66/1 , leading to the trainer being questioned.
If they reproduce those runs, they could be on song in such a poor race. - but then any of the first timers doesn't have to be much to beat this bunch.
I was really hoping to get involved at Kenilworth, since some nice horses contesting there --- but with a 28 pen, I am not trying ---- this first race, makes me wonder about studying the rest of this card.
And that was the clue , you can get 16/1 on Son Of A Legend - was 25/1 a short while ago.
I just realised that the Legend is Horse Chestnut --- in the Son Of A Legend --- quite nifty.

Reconnected :woohoo:
R6, Shatoosh has a lot going for her against this field. Looking at the opposition, there is no telling whether both Myfunnyvalentine and Lady Starlett will stay the 1450. Whilst MFV is the highest rated horse in the race, she is a two time winner and that rating in all probability was achieved over less ground. The same comment may apply to Lady Starlett.
Smokey Affair a two time winner is slightly out at the weights with Shatoosh, and could may need the run. Sylvan On Fire is not well weighted and could run flat if suffering from the dreaded 2nd run after a rest syndrome.
Shatoosh is a 4 time winner, has an fair record running on the inner track, racing fit and will take a power of beating, most probably end up outright favourite.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

One of the three that has seen early money ---but I would definitely count on Sailor Man running into the places along with some of the Erasmus horses. Putting a R300,000 purchase like Hampton Court into a race llike this smacks of desperation rather than ability - .......Maybe it's the only race the horse will ever win, or it will flop again.

LOL --- not every race has to be bet upon, sometimes it''s better to just skip to the next
Unless like me the real thrill is in trying to crack the code ......
