The horse only lost it's mind some way into the race - up to which point the pace had been pretty sedate, Jockey never pushed the horse at any stage, so was probably never in full flight - just cruising - until the jockey started riding in thhe stretch. No runner went into this race with the objective of running the others off their feet - the strategy of every runner was to conserve energy, and turn the race into a sprint, exactly how the race panned out - they discounted the out of control runner on the fringes of the track. I really cannot see any malice in this race.
It is my assumption, that had Run Rhino Run stayed with the bunch and matched the slow pace, he would have still out-sprinted them all in the finish, and won by a few lengths.
