Craig, don't be so negative. do you think brands of this calibre sign into sponsorship deals looking to 'bolt' for silly reasons at the first opportunity? really now

entry level is the same as before, in fact slightly better deal...R200 plus a betting voucher. Very affordable.

I think that price is very fair - only one Met that I've been to but really it is a day for the spectacle and party (I hardly had a bet)so I don't think R200 for maybe 8 hours of entertainment is bad at all...(unlike the Summer Cup which should think about paying people to attend)

I am sure that if they approached Emirates they could work out a deal. Emirates have more money than most average size countries

very aware Craig thanks - and that is why RACING as an industry needs to up it's game about the sport and how it is communicated - RACING as an industry needs to work very hard (together) to make themselves known, and loved, and to work alongside sponsors to achieve a positive outcome.

Unfortunately it's not an overnight success story. One of the ways to ensure success is for racing fraternity - fans, employees, service providers etc, to all give it their support and get their friends and families back to racing and to have a good hard look at how the sport is conducted and how it is perceived in the mind's eye of the general public. You don't encourage people to come racing by spewing negativity and walking around with a permanent frown on your face. Yes, there is lots to fix, but please, there are groups and work units working on fixing the issues. Whilst this is getting attention behind the scenes, as a racing fan, you can help!

Follow RIAR on the social media platforms Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and you'll see how they are trying to make racing appealing to new audiences, as well as rolling out soft education so people can understand the sport. Then, get your friends on those platforms too and get them going racing with you!

Great post Don !

We all know that Racing is under pressure. Yes, we have lots of improving to do and many issues to deal with.

But right now Racing needs us all to bury our petty differences and stand together in a positive light. The Sport will definitely not grow otherwise. The Met is a huge part of our Racing Calendar, the Sponsors are a proudly International group and can only do good for us. Let's support them !
