For a so called province that is a burden on Gold Circle I wonder what sort of a Vodacom July we would have had without the Cape horses?
Joint 1st 4th.5th,6th and 7th.
In fact what sort of a season would KZN have without the Cape taking on MDK,Laird,
Tarry.
And it's like that year after year.
Nairac should pay bonuses to Cape racing not complain and sit on his already to fat a---.
By the way I asked if anbody new his business history but to date no feed back.
Perhaps he does not have one.

Kenilworth 12July, 402 entries (9 races).
Durbanville 15 July, 420 entries (8 races carded).

No Trojan Horse required here, the PE rep will do !

Entries are FREE so lots of trainers entering in too many races inflates the nominations.....so if you get a bad draw in one nom you hopefully have a better draw in another nom....

I hear you, puffin, but i believe entries free in KZN as well but they usaually have around 300 entries.
You Capetownians are being starved of racing and will welcome Phumelela with open arms.
In fact speaking to some owners, trainers and breeders, the impression i get is that they regard P as the 'saviour'.
All depends on the property market and costs. How much will they get for Milnerton and how much to complete the West Coast facility.
You guys must try and optimize your benefits/advantages when they do take over.

Now "what are we to do with those stubborn KZN characters?"

Does look bleak, shikar, bearing in mind that it costs the racing operator money to hold/host a local race meeting.
I believe Phumelela are obligated (thankfully) to provide and screen 1 SA race meeting a day ito their international screening agreements (or we'd be learning to virtual race).

In hindsight...whatever the reasons behind the July 12 next meeting, it probably worked out for the best because there is no way that any meetings would have taken place with the weather that we are having...hope we get to see the Saturday one at least.

About 30 to 40 percent more in KZN due to the satellite yards of the Gauteng trainers who have realised that their are easy pickings in the smaller races even in the season.
Please do not get the idea that Phumelela would be the saviour.A monopoly would be created and we all know about monopolies in the RSA. i.e Iscor,Escom,Sasol etc
I don't believe that the Competition Board would allow it to happen if any body raised a complaint.
Remember also that Ph pays million in dividends that go straight to stakes in GC territory.
Without the RA dividends being returned to the stakes pool the Ph stakes would be much smaller and remember also company tax is paid in the orofit before the dividends. BIG BUCKS that should stay in racing

Without sounding negative i think sat meeting will also be lost...just too much rain.Horses also havent been able to work so all that happens is we get traincrash results in the exotics and everyone says cape racing is "crap'.We should not race in July at all in CT and then add the meetings in throughout the year rather than try to battle in the mud!

GC is a club and does not have to declare profits in order that they are able to pay dividends.GC can distibute all their income i.e.revenue less running expenses as stakes.Ph have to keep shareholders happy first.
The major shareholder is the RA to my knowledge and they hand back their dividends to the stakes pool but MrK,MrJ,MrvN,and other major shareholders retain their share and are quite entitled to do so.
