I can't buy this, I'm afraid. They are happy to schedule additional meetings to make up for cancelled ones, so what's the difference? Every day except December 25th is already taken...And we don't always get KZN racing shifted to a Greyville night meeting to avoid a clash with the additional meeting.

Secondly, sometimes they do postpone meetings, and sometimes they don't. They may have their reasons, but I would like to know what they are. With so many horses in Cape Town and so few races, we cannot afford to have meetings discarded at the drop of a hat. The debate on whether to race in Cape Town during July and August surfaces every year, but they have to try. Some meetings will be lost, it's inevitable, but some will go ahead.

With the ever increasing cost of keeping horses in training, and stakes which increase slightly one a year, the industry as a whole needs as many meetings as possible to go ahead.

The least said about Gold Circle, the better...

A misunderstanding...cant postpone to another day already taken up by another pre planned meeting....whether u postpone to another day thats available or schedule a new meeting on an available day ,whats the difference?

Just one question Puffin....Knowing that chances are good some meetings may not be held due to conditions...why are there still midweek dates not scheduled for.

Why not? Whoever makes these rules can also bend them or change them. They are not cast in concrete, like death and income taxes.

BDB-there are only X amount of meetings scheduled per year.....so on some of those spare days they race in other centers....how abt some more members attend the AGM and raise their concerns, the turnout is normally pathetic as most members dont bother to make the EFFORT to attend,if they did then they could have their say.And there's even a FREE SUPPER!

It may be an option to organise a consortium to develop a racing facility in land , like the outskirts of Paarl/ Wellington. where the weather does not penetrate as pervasively as Kenilworth and Durbanville.
