.....I think that this may be under the wrong thread....but what I believe that Warren is trying to illustrate....is that this ZAR4BAR purchase was bought by a guy that flew all the way from the USA
....to bid for this horse and then hand it off to a local ownership(barring Mr Barber who is a wealthy ex-saffer living in the USA)....then this year the half sibling to this lot gets purchased for ZAR3BAR by a bloodstock agent that flew out from the UK and then signs it over to a local ownership....so do we have too few local bloodstock agents that one has to get them from overseas to bid on horses that we want without the other buyers knowing our tactics....I think not .....the sales from CTS are full of these type transactions....this is the real SALESGATE

Sorry to hear Charles Laird is calling it a day.

Reason was that 90% of his stable was MJ horses

Good man wish him all the best

Remember Nhlavini? I think it was MJ’s first and stabled with C. Laird.

I remember his string at the Vaal that was prepped by Paul Whitmore et al..every trainer was in awe of those babies and the size of that string coming out to work was a sight to behold

Warren Lenferna's first timer comments

ALEC LAIRD (does not normally comment but kindly assisted us today)
Race 3 – FRANKLY (5): She is not a big filly – I wouldn’t be running her if she wasn’t working quite well. She is an expensive horse – I don’t normally run two year olds – I am not taking on winners to get clever, the timing just worked out that way. Based on her work, she will not disgrace herself, I have not tried her properly but on her work I am confident she can put up a bold showing and of course I am hoping for a win but am not counting on it. There is another race for her in about three weeks’ time and I would also like to get some black type in time to come.

.....a 1st foal ....inclined to be small.....By FRANKEL....inclined to be EXPENSIVE....and at ZAR4BAR.... a lot more than black type to pay her way....Grand Dam a 2yr old champion in Ireland....so should be on the precocious side.... ;)

Just to address some ABC forumites who have jumped onto the misinformation bandwagon and some general rumours -

1)Charles Laird has not yet made the final decision to stop Training.

2) Tarry has not closed his Summerveld string. This rumour is incorrect.

3) Belinda Impey has no intention of stopping Training.

Try to check the facts first please.

The multiple Gr1 winning conditioner told Tabnews: “I haven’t officially handed in my licence yet, but sold my last 15 at the Shongweni sale last Tuesday, and am not training anymore. About 90% of my stable was owned by Markus Jooste and since December they have been selling off anything worth racing, so it was time to call it a day.”
