Salesgate part 2
7 years 3 months ago
.....here comes the real acid test for the breeding industry.....CTS has set aside a 3 day sale in mid April taking place in the Cape....3 days and planning to sell approx 500 lots.....BSA has their 3 day sale at the TBA complex later in the same month....big decisions for breeders on where to place their product to get a crack at the best buyers....are the Cape boys going to be able to get back those international bloodstock hunters that came out to rescue their January sale....if they do will some stay an extra week to visit the TBA....with Mayfair gone as a major purchasing power... no more window dressing for the CTS boys....even Bob Yearham of Emperors has jumped ship and gone back to sponsoring the BSA....the wise money is that why would the Cape breeders now continue to support the CTS sale when it will be loaded with Klawervlei lots....or will CvN go cap in hand and push some of that Klawervlei bred lots.....BSA's way....interesting times....the over supply tsunami is on its way......

i have a question about Yolta running this Saturday.
Owned in partnership so lets assume Mayfair own 50%. Cost would have been 1 million.
Unraced we dont know if the horse is worth the 2 Bar or not. a better option for creditors would be for the horse to go to auction un-raced rather than raced.
just my opinion.

.....on paper and unraced this horse would hardly fetch ZAR200K.....but it is a good looking chestnut filly with 4 white socks....bought with Jooste's easy come easy go cash....and a so called US bloodstock ace .....who could have had the balance of this purchase in his purse....they bought what they thought was a superstar in BIG Pleasure .....a horse that got into the CTS 1600 with a MR below 90....this battled to run a place in a graduation plate..... :S....but again I digress....best they run little Yalta.... and I hope she is a superstar.....then at least Justin Casse will be back with more cash and more than one can fit in a jam jar....

....not off the topic at all....the international buying power will be our only salvation....I love to see these big boys and girls  come over and get in....but then I cant help believing that many of them are getting handled...not here as that Maine Chance outfit is beyond reproach and they deserve to forge and welcome partnerships such as this....internationals are not new to our game and I can tell you horror stories how men and women with big cash have been fleeced by some of our top breeders/trainers/advisors to a point where they cannot even look at a horse without feeling sick....

....many of these overseas players that were paraded at CTS sales were not actually buyers bringing in foreign currency to boost our local bloodstock sales....they were merely part of the window dressing and mostly agents and were paid to be here with free flights and accommodation and a bit of a holiday in Cape Town they assisted Jooste/Mayfair in selecting horses that he/Mayfair bought and then as part of their commissions gave them a share in the purchase.....

I heard a story yesterday some "international buyer", a lady, has reneged on her purchases at the CTS sales. Her name was mentioned I have never heard it before

Could have been this below.....has come out several times on the Jooste dime...none of her purchases ever leave our shores
Andreas Jacobs’ Maine Chance Farms has gone into a 50:50 partnership with Highlands Stud for the R3 million Silvano filly bought by Amanda Skiffington.
