I think delinquent stall horses that are suspended for delaying the start should all have enter a BT before they can be nominated to race at the trainer's expense (also those that refuse to jump)

Barrier trials are very USEFUL as far as punting is concerned. Very informative too. Im an avid fillower of Hong Kong racing and the information from barrier trials makes punting bit easier and you rely more on lucky but you will be more informed.

Its still on learning curve but considering SA racing want to benefit from HKJC its the right way to go. You cant see the benefits now.

in order to attract new punters and retain existing ones, information has to be systemised and transparent. This applies to first timers and long layoff horses coming into a field where there is betting (public money sensitive). As long as there are shadow areas where insider manipulation can take place, don't expect public confidence.

IN their current format these barrier trials are counterproductive for punters

I think its a waste, although I do agree with Mr H that horses that dont load or are stubborn loaded should be put through a public barrier trial before being allowed to race.

I think if you had to look at the barrier trials and horses performances against their next runs you will see that they are probably reflect very little in the way of more information.
I didn't choose the #puntlife, the #puntlife chose me!

.....our local BT's should be likened to those in the provincial(outback) courses in Ozz and not like Singapore and Hong Kong....our trainers look to these trials to "bring" their horses on....

Winx won a barrier trial the past weekend over 1200m. There was a big hullabaloo as the trial was inbetween live racing and her jockey that normally rides was suspended but he still rode her in the trial.
