Dear Racing Fans
The final fields for the opening meeting of this year’s competition have been released. Greyville Racecourse is the venue on Friday 4 May featuring the Independent On Saturday Gr.2 Drill Hall Stakes.
The first CTC runners are involved in Race 4 which is due off at 18h25, so this will mark the closing time for the competition. There is a fantastic line up of horses on the night, including the superstar fillies from the Snaith yard, Snowdance in the Daisy Fillies Guineas and then this year’s SunMet winner, Oh Susanna who takes on the opposite sex in the colt’s equivalent. The Independent On Saturday Drill Hall Stakes is headed by Sail South from the Brett Crawford yard, the evergreen seven year old son of Sail From Seattle having won last year’s Champion Stakes.
The following day’s Turffontein card is also out, so entrants will have some real action in the first 24 hours of the competition! Given the inclusion of the Premier’s Champions Challenge meeting, selecting the final list of horses for the competition was always likely to prove tricky and there were some high profile names that were excluded after consultation with their trainers. However, these exclusions have no real bearing on the outcome of the competition as the playing field for all entrants is level.
Please note that LOBO’S LEGEND has been sold for export and is, therefore, a non-runner in this year’s competition.
Having visited some of the local Track & Ball venues in the last week, Deez Dyanand will be on course at Scottsville racecourse on Wednesday so come racing and get the latest news on the competition first hand.
Don’t forget the offers available for this year’s CTC:
A FREE BONUS entry for every 5 entries submitted for ONLINE users – in other words, the sixth entry is free! Take 12 entries and only pay for 10 etc etc
Track & Ball Gaming, is offering NEW online account holders a betting credit worth R200 added to their first deposit (minimum deposit of R50). For more information about this promotion, please contact them directly on: 031 314 1969 or email: onlinesupport@trackandball.co.za or visit the website: www.trackandball.co.za
TabGold is again kindly sponsoring R10 000 worth of betting vouchers for the ever-popular weekly draw from entries selected randomly by computer generated means
Watch the press for more details!

I wanted to stick Mardi Gras into a couple of entries as he could be an improving sort that would be overlooked by many. It is the under the radar horses that you need to find that will win you the competition not the Snowdance's and Oh Susanna's. How can Mardi Gras not be on the list?

This challenge has really got me thinking.
So theres been press releases with regards to Lobo's Legend which is good, This is the only release i have seen.
Where are the press releases with horses such as LEGISLATE and RABADA.?
There are quite a couple horses that are sitting at Summerveld that are not on the list, I would understand if these horse were out of province at the moment OR are trained by KZN trainers that don't have season plans for example.
These 2 horses above both arrived in KZN from the Cape along with all the other Buddies on the truck that are on the list, On top of that these 2 have been well documented but not mentioned on the list. I highly doubt that LEGISLATE and RABADA came all the way from the cape to be the lead ponies for the stable, these are both GR.1 winners and especially RABADA being a temperamental horse if memory serves me correctly.
As mentioned above with ABASHIRI who has been nominated for the July, This horse did not nominate itself. So there's a chance it could take its place.
SHOCKING

Dear Racing Fans
With only a day before the start of this year’s Charity Turf Challenge worth R100 000 to the winning entry, competition entrants watching racing from Scottsville on Wednesday would have been impressed by Made To Conquer who was making his KZN debut over the 1950m trip. Raised 7 lbs in the handicap to a 94 rating, Justin Snaith’s four year old son of Dynasty looks a progressive stayer in the making and has a host of options available to him throughout the season.
For those attending Greyville’s opening meeting tomorrow night (competition closes at 18h25), Charity Turf Challenge team members will be on hand to assist with last minute entries at various venues on course from around 15h30. But, completed entries can be faxed to the following numbers or emailed in advance:
F: 031 769 2944
F: 031 314 1760
E: ctc@racingsouthafrica.co.za
