Dear Racing Fans
We are making good progress with the capturing of manual entries and processing of payments received. We expect to have completed our internal audit by early next week.

Given the paucity of Stakes Races this weekend, we will not update the leaderboard until after the World Sports Betting Greyville 1900 has taken place on Saturday 19 May. This date will also mark the first of the computer generated random draws for the R500 betting vouchers kindly sponsored by TabGold.

Until then, good racing and good luck!

Dear Racing Fans
Big race action returned to Greyville on Saturday with a fascinating renewal of the Gr.2 World Sports Betting Greyville 1900. On an afternoon dominated by Snaith Racing and the great German bred stallion, Silvano, top honours in one of the traditional VDJ pointers went to Elusive Silva who came back from a serious tendon injury suffered last year. He quickened at the right time to repel the late challenge of Paul Lafferty’s improving, Dark Moon Rising, the pair pulling clear of the slightly unlucky Matador Man.

In the supporting feature, Ngaga, gave the inform Andre Nel a Listed victory in the East Coast Cup and having stayed the ten furlong trip well, also enters the July picture. In winning the last three races on the card with progeny of Silvano, Snaith’s Star Express and Miyabi Gold both got onto the CTC scoreboard with impressive performances in the Pinnacle Stakes and MR 86 F&M handicap

The Racing South Africa team has completed the internal audit and can report that this year’s competition received 2031 entries. At this point, the leading entrant is “CLG1” on 102 points, this entry including the top point scorer Attenborough. CLG1 is 14 points clear of the joint second placed entries of “MARK ON FIRE” and “WE THREE 6” on 88 points. The full leader board is attached as a PDF.

The first of the TabGold sponsored random draws was held on Saturday afternoon when Deez Dyanand pulled out two names from the hat, both winning R500 betting vouchers:
CHEVAU STABLE
HONEY GIRL 5
Congratulations to the winners, TabGold will be in touch in due course.

Next weekend sees the first of the bonus point races, the Gr.1 Tsogo Sun Sprint, which together with the Gr.1 SA Fillies Sprint make up a feast of four Gr.1 sprints run at Scottsville Racecourse – be sure to come racing!

Until next week, good racing and best of luck with your entries!

Dear Racing Fans
One of the great racedays on the South African calendar took place at Scottsville on Saturday. Bold Respect won the Gr.1 Tsogo Sun in dominant fashion, earning his supporters the first of the bonus points on offer. However, one of the finds of the season, Pinnacle Peak, repeated his runner-up position in the Computaform Sprint and now leads the competition with 28 points. Brett Crawford also took the third place with Sunset Eyes and looks to have a strong chance of dominating the remaining two sprints of the season, the Gr.2 Post Merchants (15 June) and Gr.1 Mercury Sprint (28 July).

Dennis Drier seldom walks away from this meeting empty-handed and was rewarded with another Gr.1 winner when Sommerlied improved again to lift the SA Fillies Sprint. Popular entry, Magical Wonderland, ran second and Neptune’s Rain finished third. Other point scorers this week: Rocket Countdown (5); Fresnaye (2) and Redberry Lane (2).

The leader board changed dramatically this weekend, with “DENLEDGE” dominating the top twenty point scorers with no fewer than 8 entries including the top entry (DENLEDGE 8 ) on 146 points, 7 points clear of “DENLEDGE 12”. “CM4” is in third place on 133 points. The leading entry’s list of horses:

DENLEDGE 8 - 146
Horse1: PINNACLE PEAK Points: 28
Horse2: BOLD RESPECT Points: 25
Horse3: CORAL FEVER Points: 20
Horse4: DO IT AGAIN Points: 14
Horse5: SURCHARGE Points: 14
Horse6: MAGICAL WONDERLAND Points: 14
Horse7: SUNSET EYES Points: 10
Horse8: SNOWDANCE Points: 9
Horse9: TAP O' NOTH Points: 6
Horse10: ELUSIVE HEART Points: 6
Horse11: EYES WIDE OPEN Points: 0
Horse12: OH SUSANNA (AUS) Points: 0

The full leader board is attached as a PDF.

This weekend’s TabGold sponsored random draws worth R500 in betting vouchers were won by:
BUSTER 1
RISHI BRIJLAL 10
THIRIS 2
Congratulations to the winners, TabGold will be in touch in due course.

Next weekend the action returns to Greyville for the running of the Gr.1 Classics, the Daily News 2000 and Woolavington 2000 with the Gr.3 Lonsdale Stirrup Cup a fascinating supporting feature – be sure to come racing!

Until next week, good racing and best of luck with your entries!

Dear Racing Fans
The tough Joburg racer, Surcharge, built on his Gr.1 SA Derby runner up position when coming with a well-timed run to lift the Gr.1 Daily News 2000 in good fashion. The 20 points earned puts him on top of the leader board with 34 points. The highly talented, but quirky Majestic Mambo gave his many supporters a thrill when storming home on the wide outside and staked his claim for a Vodacom Durban July run. Tap ‘O Noth ran well in third place, earning a valuable 10 points.
Oh Susanna got her KZN campaign off to the perfect start in the Woolavington 2000, but according to media reports, this could be her only start in Durban as she prepares for a repeat of her Cape season achievements earlier in the year. It was nonetheless a privilege to have seen her in action locally and her followers have 20 points in the bag. The tough Captain Al filly, Fiorella, earned again, taking her CTC points tally to 28 after giving the Snaith filly a real battle up the straight and Lady In Black ran well back in third place.
In the supporting feature, the Gr.3 Lonsdale Stirrup Cup, Made To Conquer, continued on his upward curve and now looks to have a chance of getting into the July. A big rangy son of Dynasty, he showed the necessary turn of foot to always hold stable companion, Strathdon, the pair pulling lengths clear of third placed Mr Winsome.

“DENLEDGE” and “CM” remain in total control of the leader board, the former’s 8th entry now up to 190 points (11 of the 12 entries having scored, but only the top 10 being recorded), 1 clear of “DENLEDGE 12” and 15 clear of “DENLEDGE 11”. The leading entry’s list of horses:

DENLEDGE 8 - 190
Horse1: PINNACLE PEAK Points: 28
Horse2: BOLD RESPECT Points: 25
Horse3: CORAL FEVER Points: 20
Horse4: DO IT AGAIN Points: 14
Horse5: SURCHARGE Points: 34
Horse6: MAGICAL WONDERLAND Points: 14
Horse7: SUNSET EYES Points: 10
Horse8: SNOWDANCE Points: 9
Horse9: TAP O' NOTH Points: 16
Horse10: ELUSIVE HEART Points: 6
Horse11: EYES WIDE OPEN Points: 0
Horse12: OH SUSANNA (AUS) Points: 20

The full leader board is attached as a PDF.

This weekend’s TabGold sponsored random draws worth R500 in betting vouchers were won by:
SHERUYA’S STAR
GUTSY 4
JAMES BLOND 10
Congratulations to the winners, TabGold will be in touch in due course.

The brilliant Snowdance takes on some older Gr.1 talent at Greyville on Saturday in the next bonus race, the Gr.1 Rising Sun Gold Challenge, run over the mile. A fantastic supporting card is featured with the Gr.2 Tibouchina Stakes and Gr.3 Cup Trial offering July hopefuls a final chance of making the final lineup – be sure to come racing!

Until next week, good racing and best of luck with your entries!
