....at last some of Admiral Kittens progeny get to a sale.....but none to mares of any note....of whats on offer I quite like the un-named filly out of Welsh Kitten and cannot fathom why it was not named Twice A Kitten.....

....really thought that Welsh kitten would throw something of note and Zeta Jones withdrawn at last years sale looked to have the right type of genetics...

at current stake levels, with high likely hood of further stake cuts in the future why would u want to get involved at any Yearling sale.

if u lucky enough to own a 1 % horse that is good enough to win a few good races, the inept handicappers ensure the butcher its future with a MR system from lalaland.

if u even luckier to own a 1% of the 1% horse and u want to race overseas. u cant unless u willing to jump thru more hoops than a circus animal. and probably traumatise the horse in most cases.

and then to top it all off u have governing bodies that have guns aimed at both feet of the horse racing industry.

so i ask Why why why would u get involved with a new yearling???

Ya quite right Sly. I also believe the stakes in Gauteng are being cut end April I think I heard, however of much more importance they now have a good excuse not to carry out the export audit. That needs to be confirmed before this sale .

What are you hearing Oscar? Just doing the numbers utilising the RA numbers presented earlier, with no dividends coming in from Phum and I work out a optimistic 20% drop and a pessimistic 30%. Either way its tough times for owners.

Any reason for this sale to go ahead now?

OTA, my personal thoughts are that immediately after the April races in Jhb there will be "off-season" stakes which will probably drop by 20%. The unfortunate thing is the the Racing Management will need to have an emergency meeting, if it were my company I would already have had that meeting, and communicate their actions going forwards as regards all aspects of horse racing under their control to all stakeholders and the public.

Lets see if they even do think its necessary to hold a meeting and communicate immediate actins for the industry. I personally cannot see sales going ahead, I cannot see meetings going ahead HOWEVER the most critical thing to racing, I cannot see the expected audit to go ahead I think it will be postponed indefinitely.

If they do go ahead, there will be absolute bargains!!!
