USA next President Donald or Joe?

Agree TN.....many people battle with the mask in many ways and wearing it does affect certain people. As for the economic fallout I am one of the millions retrenched...an entire manufacturing company of 100 people contributing millions to the economy just shut shop without any warning to any of us........ force majeure declared by the global giant Sappi on their joint venture partner Borregaard Lignotech down the South Coast......
Very sad to see how people are struggling to come to terms with it but only Faith will pull us all through....

My sympathies to you, colleagues and families...interestingly, many years ago when doing my articles with KPMG (pre-Gupta days!!), I did some work at Lignotech...Umkomaas area if I remember (??!!)

In the 2021 budget, income taxes, VAT, fuel taxes and sin taxes are going to go up and there will be millions less in formal sector employment that will have to make that deficit up...government, with the downgrade to junk, is having to pay higher premiums for borrowings or leave it to the whim of the currency if borrowing overseas so the route will be to increase taxes...

So, we are royally stuffed for the foreseeble future...in the end, economics and finance forces political change and that may be in the next 5-10 years as we still need to go through the money printing phase hence the push to "nationalise" the Reserve Bank...they already helped a little by buying about R30 billion of government bonds to help during the early part of the Chinese coronavirus and this will accelerated when they take over the Reserve Bank...

There are no good guys that is on the inside to save us...CR likes the idea of being president (and is a billionaire who never built anything in his life but NM anointed him so he thinks beng president is his due) and has put ANC unity ahead of SA progress, PG was finance minister during JZ's entire first term when public debt accelerated (but gets sympathy for being recalled during the second term)and knows nothing about running a business but is in charge of SOE's and TM is just kicking the can down to road till his retirement in a year or two...get to a full 5 year term and you retire with a full pension based on last salary...

Both candidates are useless. They should start with new candidates!!!

Agree that people around the world (not just the US) have been left with the "least worst" rather than the "best" to look up to / choose for representative government...

Every four years I love following the election campaigns in the States...usually provides good comic entertainment but this time around it is too sad to be true.

The Divided States of America have a serious problem if the Democrats get in... there is not a chance that Slow Joe will be president ... Kamilla Harris will be pushed to the fore due to 'unexpected health issues' with Joe... and then Socialism will be the order of the day ... and where in the world has Socialism done anything except make the poor poorer and the entire country miserable.
