I'm hoping it's a Superfecta where you select horses to finish in the 1st six places. It's not a new bet as it was previously offered on the Phumelela Tote years ago on selected races. there was fractional betting but you had to play to a minimum of 10 %, escalating to 20%, 30% etc.
Was a challenging bet , but I did catch a few.

However methinks this new bet coming next week will be a Six Leg Quickmix Pick 6.

SUPER SIX RACING

Gold Circle has agreed to host the trial of a proposed new racing concept called Super Six Racing.

Gold Circle was approached by Super Six Racing Ltd., a UK-based company to trial the concept which will in no way affect the Hollywoodbets Greyville meeting scheduled for Wednesday, September 16, other than in six races in which riders will be wearing designated colours of the team sponsors and not the silks of the registered owners.

Other than the colour changes – where affected owners will be financially compensated - the meeting will be as normal, called by the local commentator on duty and broadcast on Tellytrack.
The aim of the exercise is to ‘test-drive’ the new concept ultimately aimed at the emerging Chinese thoroughbred racing industry where gambling is prohibited.

The Super Six press release reads: The Super Six product is aimed at taking the sport of horse racing to consumers as a non-gambling proposition. Super Six Racing is in negotiation with distributors to put our programme in front of a global audience, particularly into territories where gambling is currently prohibited, in particular mainland China.

The purpose of the trial (at Hollywoodbets Greyville) is to produce a very high-quality broadcast package of some 40-minute duration which will be used to showcase the Super Six horse racing product to our potential sponsors and partners.

The only difference from a normal raceday would be that Super Six would require fields of exactly twelve runners, with jockeys wearing the colours of our Super Six Racing teams, rather than the owners own colours. We envisage our six races to be part of a normal eight-race card so that there would be minimal disruption to the usual racing product.

Subject to a successful trial, Super Six Racing Ltd will look to enter into formal agreements to stage its first full Super Six Live Racing Series.

Initial thoughts see a series of six meetings, typically with four weeks space between them, which would allow for five qualifying events and a grand Final. Our intention will be to live stream and broadcast the Super Six series internationally and in particular into mainland China.

This very low risk proposition, with minimum disruption, offers the potential for substantial long-term benefits to the South African horse racing industry, including:

Phase One:
• An enhanced broadcast product on Super Six Raceday, showcasing South African racing to a new international audience.
• A partnership with Super Six Global League, presenting a more approachable, inclusive and easy to understand horse racing offer
• A transformational offer engaging with a sector of the population, previously disinterested in horse racing, engaging, entertaining and building a sustainable new audience for the sport.

Phase Two

• Super Six plans foresee the development of four major new racetrack facilities in China over the next ten years. Each new racetrack in China will require upwards of 600 horses and regular re-supply
• South African racing would act as a feeder or nursery for Super Six Racing in China, with concomitant long-term benefits. Rather than waiting for racecourses to be built over a period of years, staging Super Six in South Africa means that we can move teams seamless to the new tracks as they open.
• This would facilitate the strengthening of the South African breeding industry with a secure long-term demand. Enabling improvement of the breed with increased budgets for breeding stock acquisition and collaboration in securing stallions to shuttle between the northern and southern hemispheres.

Super Six is delighted to announce team sponsors for this exciting and ground-breaking Inaugural Raceday and their colours as follows:-

Following on from the Inaugural Raceday, Super Six and Gold Circle will work towards staging the first full series of Super Six Racing.
Finally, Super Six Racing would like to thank Gold Circle and all team sponsors for their outstanding support in such difficult and unprecedented times – without which this Inaugural Raceday would not be possible.

....wonder if they got the nod from the NHRA and owners re the colours issue......last thing we want is a similar fiasco as that of the international jockey challenges.....where an owners association simply rode roughshod over the rules.....

I am all for innovation and good idea and am of the opinion that we shouldnt knock this at this stage.

I do have a question though. How is this super 6 funded if its not about betting? Do participants pay to get an entry? What is won if you back the right team ( back with no money I mean ) and what part do the owners and operators get of the kitty?

Was that a marketing overview by Clocking the Gallop? certainly not an interview with any questions of value. I specifically do not watch that show because it reminds me of a few mates talking twak but the latest must take the cake.

What is super six? Marketing horse racing to a non-traditional market and enticing new sponsors to be involved in a family oriented sport. This concept will lead to the construction of 6 race courses in China and enlarge the breeders market. Maybe why there are 3 breeders as sponsors. As far as being a family oriented sport, what a laugh.

The name dropping of "luminaries" must add credibility in some way while pointing out that horse racing doesn't have to be about punting and using the jockey's international to reinforce the point is laughable. Who pays for horse racing? The Owner and The Punter unless the jockeys for the international paid their own way guess who covered the cost?

Using Japan as an example is great but I wonder if they have bookmakers in their market? I also love the use of anecdotal evidence to reinforce the use of team colours. Also thank you for telling the public not to be negative towards the concept and not to have tunnel vision or a myopic view.

"New concept for an audience that doesn't come racing" May i be so humble as to suggest that the current audience is properly catered for.

I hope the GC members agreed with this concept while the Trainer/Trainers Rep/Training Track Manager/Bloodstock Agent Mr Tony set this up with Andrew.

Andrew referring to the Super Six company as "we" would indicate that he represents the company in South Africa. The burning question that remains unanswered is what is the commercial incentive for the average owner and punter besides appearance money?

I am always skeptical when someone wants to hawk a product on the back of an established business when they have no start up cost unless Super Six is doing this for the good of horse racing and deriving no money out of the venture. As an owner I would never agree to this rubbish and as a punter it is difficult enough to find 1 winner on the day, the colours shenanigans just allows for more confusion. I am sure that new families will be watching and encouraging their children to watch while Super Six make no money from the venture so I am sure this is good.

PRESS RELEASE

SUPER SIX

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that it has approved the “Super Six” trial at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse on Wednesday, 16 September 2020, and the carrying of “team” colours in terms of Rule 8.3.5 by the runners allocated at random for each team.

The nature of the proposed trial is six separate events which are raced independently of any “team” dynamic. The “team” is in reality a paper team, allocated at random for each race, and which operates independently and without influence of the actual individual races. This is almost identical to the practice and governance of International or Provincial Jockey races.

Therefore, all races will be construed as normal races for NHA racing control purpose and all rules applicable to any normal race will apply, with the proviso that the “team” will be indicated by a colour (silks) change for each jockey in each race. Each owner and trainer remains the responsible party for the determination of the tactics to be employed for each horse and each jockey will ride to the instructions given by the trainer and owner(s), all of whom act as independent agents for their runners and exclusive from the “team” allocated randomly.
