what they should check.

if there were any big winners on the race.
then check who that account is linked to.
i doubt any big bet was taken over the counter.

I was just about to say that.
But it's a bit too suspect with the place payout with the 2-10 favorite paying R9-80.
I really do think that all this manipulation is from the people working at the tote.
It's so easy for them to say the link dropped when they actually do it on purpose and get away with this.
The tote needs to look into all the bets placed and cancelled from this race.
What's the chances of that?
0% I would think.
Bob you really need to find out what went on here please.

This screams inside job. The players need to be identified. They took advantage of the minimum R1 dividend offered by the tote here, betting almost the entire pool on the runner up, and got all their money back.

......not about laying into the runner up to get money back on tote bets but this was made the target so that odds were swung on the FAV.....but there must have been mass cancellation of tote place bets on the winner to cause this imbalance......one would look to any sizable place and EW bets on the winner with online bookies offering the open bet.....there seems to be a syndicate of people with insiders at the tote to capitalize on such an opportunity.....could be someone working at/with PGI.....

.....the odds deep in the red are that they will say the link went down and no untoward transactions detected.... ..if I were looking for a sure thing on that day it would have been exactly that race.....the fav could not miss a place....

Surely they can't be that stupid and say no untoward transactions detected when it's so obvious manipulation took place.
Let's see what they say before we have a full go at them.

There are many examples of questionable payouts and it seems that things are done after the result in known...

Just like pools can be re-opened when there is a false start, I suspect that this is happening on other occasions as there is clearly little or audit of these events resulting in differences between the payouts when pools are "Closed" (for the first / last time??!!) and the dividends declared...

Co-mingling seems to come with it's own problems due to a supposed delay between race running and pools updating / closing...creates its own possibilities for manipulation...

All it is doing is moving money from the many to the few without that being due to any skill in picking winners but being on the inside...

The crux of the matter here Muthi. If this happened on any other race you could remotely believe it may have been coincidence, but this horse was the absolute penalty of all penalty kicks to run a place on the day from all the races.

No one has to admit it Muhti but the tote need to open an investigation into this matter and I'm sure they will be able to see the patterns.
Which branch this was done, what time, who all cleared the cancellation of the bets, where was the money collected or even if it might be an account even easier to see.

....I believe the tote or persons at the tote high up are complicit here....this is not the work of a walk in tote punter or online gambler/s....this link breakdown had to be orchestrated and perfectly timed....far too coincidental that it happened on that exact race......I think that it was still down in following races thereafter....and no need for further fiddling as the gamble was already landed.....

TAB explain:

The bulk of the bets in the R236 138 net Win pool went on Inferno (No 1), but for whatever reason less than R1 000 was wagered on the same horse in the net place pool of R29 138.

Probably 99% of players decided no point in backing him for a Place!
