WTF and the chose to keep that piece of information to themselves so that only the insiders who were aware could benefit? Are they really, or should I rather state, do they really expect us to believe that some punter would, seeing the pool sizes, bet R24k plus on the outsider to place, and leave the favourite. I would love to meet this heavy hitter punter that likes to donate his money to the tote.

....oh no its that mystery punter again...and Singapore did not allow a co-mingled pool for that specific race because of a very hot favorite.......what a load of sh!t.....where were the banners informing punters.....these excuses are so thin and no wonder that the tote is an absolute joke .....

Not to the degree of a R9.00 place dividend on a hot favourite but from time to time it happens that the place dividend is more than the win dividend. These are the symptoms of poor tote pools and it will get worse as more punters give up.

Very true...

The few in the know will be smiling to have pulled this off but the many that lost will shun the tote...and considering that the tote pools determine the stakes, the future looks bleak...

I can see MOD "rationalising" assets in the next 2 years and that will provide their return on investment and then they will be done...:(

Let's just say it's true that Singapore did not allow co-mingled pools for that race, not really sure why they would do that honestly,it still doesn't give us clarification that manipulation didn't take place.
So in other words what they telling us is that punters thought it stupid to take a place on the odds on shot but everyone had the same idea to put places on the second favorite?
Rocket Star was paying 40c a place when betting closed.
If they got any integrity and want punters to trust the tote they should open an investigation into this race and check the betting patterns and report back on there findings.
For me 100% manipulation took place.
I'm definitely not going to support a company I don't trust.
The only problem here is that the open bet and exotic payouts with bookmakers all depend on the tote's dividends.
The tote won't see a cent of my money.

Yeah,no doubting manipulation took place but yet it's all legal and really not much can be done to stop this with our poor pools.

If this was a scam, which I doubt, then all they got was R1000 place bets = a profit of less than R8000. There are two key questions:
1. Were there any significant open bets on the place with bookies in SA?. If so, then it gives the conspiracy theorists some ammo.
2. What place bet pre race info was displayed on SA teletrack screen and on the Tabonline indicative dividend website? If not the local pool dividends, then the operator is guilty of disseminating misinformation to the SA public.

.... As an online punter I do not even look at the free Tote sheets as there are far better online race cards.... Also use online odds..... The fact that there was some in the know about non comingling on that particular race made it an ideal target for manipulation..... and then TT does not scroll the tote betting banner for this race.... but actually missed broadcasting it.... makes one think doesn't it....

I wouldn't say it's a scam Peter because it's all legal.
Yes the place bets with the bookies are the key here.
But 40c a place for the 2nd favorite probably shows us certain people knew what they where doing here.
It's the plus side of having a tote with poor pools for the 'clever' punter.

You right Muhti they didn't even show the race and I think the scrolling betting at the bottom never once appeared, well I never saw it.
Too many factors suggest the people in the know set this race up.
We need an organisation that looks into the tote dealings and not someone working at tote.

They were only showing the South African portion for win and places until the very last minute or at the off. As pointed out, they never show the race, so when they knew the race was on they then added the PGI part.

The thing is who placed a huge place bet on the runner up to boost the pool.
