It's a winning bet so I would say the bookie would payout the full carryover amount per single bet.
So in other words R834 a place to the maximum total bet payout of the full place pool of R1668.

Inferno ended up paying R9-80 for a place.
Check all the other place pools, some reached into the millions yet somehow this race only had a R29 000 place pool.
The question they need to answer is why?
Maybe the did it on purpose so the informed could manipulate this particular race.
I hope Bob manages to get an answer from them as this is exactly why we don't trust the tote.
There might be a valid excuse but we sure want to know what it is.

This is definitely a manipulation. This pool was not commingled into the Singapore tote I believe, only with PGI, I think. The pool originally was only showing the South African portion until the last minute and by the time I noticed the race was off.

Re: What happened here

Someone knew this race would not be commingled, smashed the places on the runner up and had savers on a few others. And let the 1/5 horse run wild at 30/1 a place, before the tote could round it down after the jump to 9/1.
This screams inside job. The players need to be identified. They took advantage of the minimum R1 dividend offered by the tote here, betting almost the entire pool on the runner up, and got all their money back.

They knew what they doing. Planned in advance. Plus the runner they put the money to manipulate the dividend ran second.

I was just about to say that.
But it's a bit too suspect with the place payout with the 2-10 favorite paying R9-80.
I really do think that all this manipulation is from the people working at the tote.
It's so easy for them to say the link dropped when they actually do it on purpose and get away with this.
The tote needs to look into all the bets placed and cancelled from this race.
What's the chances of that?
0% I would think.
Bob you really need to find out what went on here please.

Maybe the bookies will be able to see who took big place bets with them.
Those are the people responsible for this manipulation.
