Makes u think long and hard about peoples character and how they 'PREECH'!!!

Not good for racing and not good for KZN trainers!

Cats, this needing to make horses run faster and 'steal' races really grinds me.

The penalties 'if found guilty' should be far heavier. Automatically have your licence taken away, jumps to mind!!!!!!

A cash fine is pathetic, they just pay it with the winnings from the horse they injected.

As for Duncan, I find it hard to believe! I know him personally and will suggest that there is more to his story than what is being portrayed- I hope I'm right!

As for Mr Van Zyl, I hope he gets his act together as Mrs O will not take kindly to a positive test!!!

Come on boys, train like men, do not steal! I'm sure this is not the last we hear of banned substances as it has been a nuisance in racing for many many years and it will always be involved.

YH

Sorry guys I feel strongly about this. This is like stealing and if it happened in the ordinary world you would go jail if convicted!

York, there is no drug in the world that can make a horse run faster, they are administrated as pain killers. All trainers give there horses these drugs and there is a withdrawel period before a horse can run after recieving medication, hence a 14 day suspension for horses that are scratched on vetinary grounds. There are plenty of factors to take into consideration when a horse comes up with a positive and as you said there must be more to the story than a trainer purposely injecting a horse with a banned substance knowing that samples are taken after the running of races.

I understand the administring of medicine (some banned, some legal) and the delay period.

Its just a topic that gets me going, cause certain trainers hide behind the withdrawal period and say OOP's I thought this or that. It wasn't me it must be the vet. If you don't know what is happening with the horses in your own yard, this could jeopardise your career/sponsor/way of life and that just makes me concerned.

Trainers are business owners, and should be more be responsible for what happens in their business! Some are brilliant at it and some are naive.

Just my thoughts, I dont mean to offend anyone!!!

Guys, Im not disagreeing with you, all Im saying is I dont think a trainer in todays day and age is purposely going to inject a horse with a banned substance. Trainers, assistants or vets get withdrawel times wrong and therefore horses get sent to races with substances still in there systems. So when a horse does come up with a posistive the trainer has to answer because he is the man/woman responsible for the horse. I just dont think its fair to label these gentleman as cheats as we dont know the full story.

Agreed Mark I'm not labelling anyone in particular! Just stating my thoughts on what should happen if anyone gets caught cheating (Blatently)

We all know who the best are at withdrawal periods and who arent. I just wish it didnt happen. If a horse is sick rather wait an additional week if there is a chance the horse could be found tested positive. What about the poor owners or sponsors who get labelled.

I'm just saying they should look at this scenario as it harms people's and companies credibility.

What about the positive on Met day that has yet to be finalised?
In terms of the rules the horse must be disqualified and the 2nd horse get the stake. What about 6 months interest on the money?
All the guys caught for painkillers are unlucky in that most trainers use painkillers but stop in time.
But many horses receive much more and I believe EPO is being used in South Africa.
But I could be wrong.
