WORLD RACING EXPERIENCES

4 years 6 months ago
#802883
Hi I am keen sporting enthusiast My latest bee in my bonnet is to visit race meetings around the world ( once covid lifts of course ) that will leave me with WOW factor . I have done golf thing in SA ( over 80 golf courses ) but packed it in as my handicap drifted alarmingly as i aged. i have done 20 july's and gold cups ( live in Cape Town ), now for RACING VENUES/MEETINGS

I have to date done DUBAI big day 2018 and ARC 2019 ( Paris brilliant , threw in PSG game ) Plan 1 per year I like to combine with sporting events , some ( not to much ) sight- seeing and local pubs

I look forward to any comments , including English festivals and Hong Kong , so I can research so I can plan my next 5 years

I can only imagine some of members have done it all

Appreciated

Would have to say my best racing experience was in the Betfair box at Kempton Park on boxing day when Kauto Star won.
Plus at Cheltenham gold cup day also with Betfair ....

Ellerslie in Auckland over the summer
Barbados Turf Club, you won’t experience more excitement when it’s packed
Moonee Valley in Melbourne
Musslebourgh near Edinburgh
Any English track over the weekend in the summer always packed and great atmosphere

Have done Laytown races.
A Two-day festival meeting at Birdsville Aus was planned Sep this year but then COVID :-(.
(Birdsville? :-), check it out www.birdsvilleraces.com ).
I read above St Moritz and Barbados, I want to do that too.
Forget the rich and famous racing.

Birdsville - interesting , in middle of nowhere - do you go by car ? how did you uncover this. I know my mate Neil Morrice will love the trip

:-) haha. Hi. I think you drive to Birdsville from Brisbane. 2hrs plus? (Haven’t studied the map recently). Then you camp and have breakfast at that joint on the website. Hoping 2021 but I doubt it, the disease will still around. Meet you there?

Some very interesting responses . i think i will get my mate Neil Morrice to right article on his world travels - he has been to all major meetings around the world for last 30 years ( i know he has done in excess of 25 Breeders cups - he rates meeting highly ) with his deft touches of english language and his vast travels and story-telling , it will be interesting read. I did Arc with him.

My latest travels plans based on present info 1. Cheltenam 2. Musselborough 3 Aus ( various ) Barbados stored
