The DBN View Room was made available for trainers as the Racing Operators want to ensure that racing continues and one of the conditions was not to show anyone in the stands on live TV which would court more controversy. I suppose we could find yet another reason why no rules or laws apply to Mr Fortune.
I wonder what would be the opinion if this happened prior to the JULY and racing was cancelled because of it?
Morne Winnaar, Gavin Lerena - and now this ... but people still finding reasons to defend .....

That is the tip of the iceberg ICE however there was a donkey that farted on a racecourse in 1937 that may be used as a defense, you never know.

he clocked a cop. if charged he will be prosecuted in court. why should the nha do anything ? surely the law of the land takes precedence . this is like kzn court ruling on validity of concourts zuma decision.

What where the police doing on the course , probably there to watch the races . Crime is rampant , what is going on in Nkandla is a joke and we have nothing better to do than send a whole battalion of cops to Greyville to make sure that these dangerous criminals aka the trainers , jockeys and grooms dont dare watch the racing from the stands , absolutely ludicrous

I agree - there are two stories here - linked by the conduct of the SAPS.
The one story is about Mr Fortune - and from all the 'evidence' as per this thread, he has run out of chances and should take his punishment.
The other story is the total ignorance of the SAPS when the EFF and ANC supporters hold mass rallies - whether at Nkandla or wherever else - surely those are gross transgressions of a much higher order than a guy not sitting where he was supposed to on a racecourse - but I suppose the guy on the racecourse is much easier to be 'made an example of' - priorities are skewed imo

Exactly Craig.
That berea police station is about 2km from my pozzie and if you phone these okes you lucky, and I mean very lucky,if they pitch up a day or two later.
You leave your hose pipe out at night you got a 90% chance it's gone in the morning.
Cameras in our road pick up fence hoppers at least once or twice a week and the police are at a place where they not needed for crime purposes.
No man power for proper crimes yet they bust someone for not wearing a mask in an area probably 50m away from the closest person, apart from his wife that is.
No common sense at all and I think that is why Andrew got angry.

Common sense would be opening up the whole of Greyville therefore extending the distance between people not making everyone congregate in a few designated places.
Bigger place to roam the better the social distancing could be.

Better still, would be that next year's theme for July, should be Zulus.
We can rock up dresses as Zulus and do what the hell we like and the police will keep their distance with no arrests or fines 😄

He didn’t get busted for just not wearing a mask, he was busted for hitting a cop. There’s a difference.

I know that Mac.
What probably made him do that, not in any way condoning his actions, was the cop telling him to put his mask on in an area where nobody was in a 50m radius.
