If there was no official result declared by the tote for race 1 why haven't bookies refunded the race as well??

NHRA to issue a statement re: Race 1.

I did hear Cecil say there was a problem with tote and looking at the payouts for last 2 winners R1.40 on a 12/10 shot and R1.10 on the 5/10 shot .

However for race one the race was void as far as tote as the race tote betting wasn't closed after jump.
Disaster if you backed winner.
I guess the prize money and fixed odds bets will stand

How embarrassing 😳

Maybe the tote are trying to introduce an exchange "in running " and this was a trial run.

SUBJECT: TAB bets Race 1 Scottsville refunded

DATE: Sunday 5 September 2021

RELEASED BY: Phumelela Gaming

All single-race TAB bets on Race 1 at Scottsville today have been refunded and the field will apply in multi-race bets like the BiPot. This follows betting pools not closing timeously and numerous bets being taken after the race was run.

An investigation has been opened to determine the reasons for the late closure of the pools. Simultaneously TAB apologises to customers and will investigate ways to ensure there is not a recurrence.

This should not be possible if the proper systems checks are in place. Heads should roll, but of course the broom and the carpet will be busy instead.
Its all very well to say that bets will be refunded, and its fine for those of us who bet online- but what about all the small cash punters who have already thrown away their tickets?
There should be a requirement that any windfall profits made on this day due to uncashed tickets should be added to the carryover pools.

Plus all transactions are timed and any bets taken after the official race time should have been void. All others bets should have stood to establish the correct payout.

In addition the terminals taking bets after the event should have an investigation to ensure no employee was involved?

Any idea what happens with bets taken with Bookies.

Eg. Dbl taken and the second one won.

Hi Dean

My understanding is that ONLY the TOTE bets were a problem.

The owner, trainer , jockey etc would receive stake money.
Bookies used fixed odds and would have paid out including doubles .
