Forgetting my tickets.

The race was however null and void.

I am not sure the race was null and void ?
Maybe the NHRA can confirm but the result stands and the winner is no longer a maiden.

The null and void is only for win and place bets on the tote.

Only an investigation opened into the late closing of the pools, wonder if the old "phantom punter" rumours will surface again? Did we ever get to the bottom of that before?

THE STARTER REPORTED:
a)BUY BACK (G Wright) was stubborn to load.
b)SHELL SEEKER (K de Melo) and ALWAYS ON TIME (*R Venniker) lost 1 length, respectively.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)SHELL SEEKER (K de Melo) was hanging out between the 400m and 250m.
b)LEOPARD LADY (N Patel) was hanging in between the 400m and 250m.
c)In view of the performance of DRIVE BY (W Kennedy) (9.50 lengths, 72/100 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer Gareth van Zyl will be requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of this filly on return to stables.
d)After the All Clear was given, the Stipendiary Board was advised that there was a technical issue with regard to the timeous closure of the tote betting on this race. Subsequently, the Stipendiary Board was further advised that all tote bets on this race were refunded. An investigation will be opened into this incident.
e)SHELL SEEKER (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M Dixon advised (SC).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a)COOL COMFORT raced with alumites in front, unshod behind (advised 31.08.21/13h29).

RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER :
a)Nil.

THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED :
a)DRIVE BY : Nothing obvious detected.

SCRATCHINGS :
a)SILVANO’SBUTTERFLY : Injured in transit. Withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon at 11h49 and the betting was 10/1. Rule 53.5 applies.

I suspect this is not the first time that there wasn't "timeous closure of the tote betting"...it sometimes happens that the payouts are reflective of tickets being generated after the result is known...and we know that the tote can be "re-opened" after it has been closed...happens every time there is a false start...we don't know if each and every instance is audited to ensure that all is on the up and up...

Just remember something guys. Unlike for the bookies, there is absolutely no incentive whatsoever for the tote to close races on time, and to ensure that no bets are being played after the off of the race. The more money bet for them, the better. As many have said here already, this is not the first time this has happened, happens so often, just that this is the first time this has led to the race result being voided. Definitely an inside job, who would know to be able to place this many bets after the result is known?? A normal punter instinctively stops attempting to take bets once the race jumps.

Notice how with Hong Kong and UK races, the races ALWAYS close on time. There are never late fluctuations after 30 seconds past the jump. Why is this? Because if the Hong Kong or UK authorities get even the slightest whiff of kak from our bets into their pools, the deal is off.

Compare that to the farce that is allowed on our local pools, with minute late fluctuations, changes after the result is known. Then you ask yourself if anyone is surprised at this happening.

Their excuse with the fluctuations Thor is that their computer systems are a bit outdated so probably don't refresh quick enough.
How hard can it be to check were and when those bets where taken after the race was supposed to be closed?
Check which tote outlet or see whose account took those bets.
Oh sorry their outdated system doesn't allow them to do that and maybe thats just the way they want them to stay.
We so needed Betfred to take over our racing as things would have been done by now I'm sure.
The way our racing is run is an embarrassment to horse racing.

Check the PA quickmix tickets going forward for the last week....
From last Monday till today,eight PA's,they have only one that shows all the tickets going through in each leg.
The others are all missing a minimum of one leg,mostly two or three.
Something so simple as this our tote cannot even get right and they expect us to trust the tote and the ability they got to get things right.
