The dogs are barking about Captain Fontaine and let's hope he delivers. Has not beaten much but impressive in all 4 wins. Opposition today much stronger and I predict an upset result.Lets watch closely...

Silly me, i thought this horse has won 4 Grade 1's already, hence every man and his dog screaming off the rooftops. Let's see where this horse is in a year's time, i can think of many better horses in the country right now, can someone bookmark this page. Also think the KZN jockeys need to get around a little more.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Not a close follower of Cape racing - season coming up, so better start getting my act together (and who knows if we will have Gauteng racing every weekend going forward) - today should provide some answers .......

R1: Does look a bit open - maybe the filly

R2: Any of the 6 depending on pace and jockeyship

R3: What a Cherry does look the right one of the raced runners, but I don't think Gimme a Ruby needs to be too good to make a winning debut

R4: Echo race 2 - any of the 6 can win, but Exceeder does look the value imo

R5: Another closely matched field - I think Saint West the value

R6: 3 horse war, hard to know how good Xavion is, but we will know after today

R7: A few other questions to be answered - how good is Captain Fontaine and does the young 3-yr-olds measure up - the race will show, but imo the betting is skewed; apart from CF and Ambiorix, I think all of Russet Air (not sure why the stable keeps the blinkers on ?) Captain Tatters and Pleasedtomeetyou have shown that they are classy sprinters

R8: Looks another closely matched field, but I think both the Snaith runners will be right there

Enjoy B)

Sunny, and a fresh headwind forecast. The course should be fast.
Race 1 We have Gentleman here. He showed good speed last time and should go close.
race 2 An open race- Glen Kotzen has a strong hand, and my narrow pick is Flower of Saigon.
Race 3 A weak maiden for this time of year. What a Cherry fair debut, but the price is very skinny. Stable jockey has picked the first timer Gimme a Ruby so throw this one into exotics.
Race 4 The Futureisbright has been priced up favourite, but is 4kg worse off with Exceeder for 2L, so I will go with Exceeder, which I bred. Open race and I think the biggest danger to my selection is Vida Futura.
Race 5 Anther open handicap where Snaith has a strong hand. Saint West looks the value bet.
Race 6 Cosmic Highway has done nothing wrong and is a worthy favourite. However, Xavion ran a cracker last time and I think can win this as he has plenty scope for improvement. Good Traveller may struggle to give 2kg but can't be ignored.
Race 7 This race is wide open and I think the price on the favourite is ridiculously short. However, if he is indeed a Queens Plate horse as stated by his trainer, then he needs to be many lengths better than his current rating. Its always difficult to assess a horse that is unbeaten- although he hasn't yet beaten anything of note, he could be anything. Today will tell us a lot. Three year olds have often won this race and Ambiorix is a smart sort. Russet Air is the class horse and his prep run wasn't bad.
Race 8 An open maiden. Little between the two Snaith runners on their last runs.

What a Cherry to start a good day for the punters, good horses running.

Let's be BOLD with the Cherry 🍒

Well that's typical SA racing for you,not even good enough for the PA mind you.
Not a fan of either the jockey or the trainer.
