I hope that they can make a plan without punters having to stream.

A communication will probably go out next week. Our racing will be flighted on 249 until the end of February. We will be going out free to air on Sentech as well as other platforms and streams the detail are being finalised.

It looks like you in for R400 if you already have a satellite dish and R1200 if you havent. I think thats reasonable but not sure of the schlepp factor.

If that is the case, I don't think I'll bother with KZN racing - or I will consider taking out the subscription for the 'Champions Season'

Who in their right mind would install another satellite option just to watch KZN racing?

I will be the 1’st one.
Will pay for the installation at my dads house as well.
Will go crazy if I can’t watch the ponies.

They should approach Etv, the owners for Openview, to see if they can broadcast signal on their network. Openview is a once off payment and installation only. They might be open to the idea has it will incresse their subscribers.
Then negotiate with Etv to grant them exclusive rights for the July to be broadcast on the main channel itself, Etv, so the whole of South Africa can see the July.
The Gold Circle YouTube channel already has over 7000 subscribers. They should show the live streaming there has well. They can get more revenue from advertising has you have to watch an advert before you start watching the stream everytime you view the stream.

Free to air channels from Sentech are available as both terrestrial and satellite signals. So my understanding is that the dtt boxes that's being given out for free or R400 are terrestrial boxes and need only a uhf antenna or TV aerial to work.
The satellite option uses another type of decoder that costs around R600 or 700 and should work off your existing dstv satellite dish as Sentech uses the same satellite that dstv broadcasts from.
Either way their reach to new audiences could be a positive factor as shortly all TV owners without an active dstv subscription will have to have at least one of the above options.
