Gold Circle

KwaZulu-Natal horse racing and totalisator operator Gold Circle and sports betting giant Hollywoodbets have announced the launch of Gallop TV, which aims to bring South Africans all the latest horse racing action from KwaZulu-Natal and from the global arena of international horse racing.

The exciting new high-definition sports broadcast channel will offer live racing, betting odds, race results, dividends, interviews, podcasts and play-on demand previews, which will collectively highlight all aspects of the horse racing industry.

“To sustain the sport of horse racing in KZN, it is essential to grow our fan base by ensuring we satisfy our current customers in the betting shops along with offering our product free-to-air via live streaming and satellite to our existing customers, whilst at the same time creating a potentially new market of home viewers. Hollywoodbets has once again demonstrated its commitment to sustaining horse racing in our province by partnering with Gold Circle in this initiative. Without their support, this project would not have been possible,” said Gold Circle CEO, Michel Nairac.

“Hollywoodbets is thrilled to be partnering with Gold Circle on the launch of the Gallop TV production and an exciting new website. We have developed a strong bond with the Gold Circle team and look forward to the success of this project, which we hope will facilitate the objective of bringing more South Africans closer to horse racing,” said Dermot O’Connell, Hollywoodbets Betting Operations Manager.

For the month of February, Tellytrack will remain on DSTV channel 249. However, the Tellytrack live stream on www.tellytrack.com will cease on 31 January. All viewers will be able to watch the live stream of Tellytrack on the Gallop TV website ( www.galloptv.co.za ) from Tuesday 1 February by registering on the site. There are no monthly subscriptions required.

Further communication regarding the options to view KZN Horseracing via satellite from 1 March, as well as feedback on the ongoing negotiations with 4Racing will be released shortly.

Seems like the KZN boys and girls are on the ball………….

Great stuff!

Hi Johan

From 1 February you will be able to stream the HD picture for mobile or you can cast this to you TV if you have a smart TV or Chrome cast attached to your TV. It would be advisable to have a non-capped high speed fibre internet line for this option.

We will also be available on the Sentech satellite which will require a free-to-air set top box (we will release exact details in the very near future along with suggested installers in various areas) which are available from satellite shops like Ellies, Space TV etc. There will be a cost for the decoder and installation (uses the same satellite as DSTV so depending on your existing set up, installations may vary). There will be no ongoing subscription fees once you have your decoder installed. Tellytrack will still be available on DSTV until 28 February and will carry KZN racing until then.

Thanks
Steve

My biggest problem is not the stream itself. My biggest problem is I, and I am certain most others as well, bet on international venues along with the local stuff. To change over streams to watch a local race and also follow my international bets at the same time is ANNOYING to a whole other level. There needs to be one channel that at least replicates the offering of TT and another channel like that which 240 aspires to be.

I am confused. So with 4racing and Gold circle pulling in different directions at this stage does this imply that Gold circle can also hold Hollywoodbet race meetings everyday starting from the 1st of March?

Sad that such disunity exists in these times where the sport is experiencing zero or no growth and the racing bodies expect to survive with their different paths. The big meetings and all the hype created around it will not sustain this sport.

The operators need to have a common vision and sort out their differences and put the sport before their egos.

Suppose they actually could, but let's hope it won't come to that..

If Gold Circle can keep the KZN boys happy they will 100% become the major force in racing! They have had such a hard time with lockdown the last few years and could bounce back!

Capturers don't care about "unity" and what is best for the industry...they want to protect their tinpot fiefdoms long enough to get / take out more than they put in...then move on to the next pasture to graze on until bare...

My two cents worth is that things will progress (??) back to the route to the clubs pre-corporatisation...each of the many "capturers" will have their own fiefdoms...

Okay guys not to be a stick in the mud, but you really cannot judge a website's responsiveness when you're probably one of a few viewers using the site since it is still relatively unknown, and more so when viewed at an off peak time (no live racing). Judge the site after a month or two of no TV coverage, when everyone is watching it, and viewership and bandwidth strain peaks during race time. That will be the test.
