Some observations on the meeting
Race 3: Staying races with small fields are notorious for big upsets and I will be with Coup De Main and Richard Fourie to continue the trend
Race 5 : Cosmic Highway is a top class sprinter and could give Rio Querari a tough time
Race 6 and 7 should be a stroll in the park for Superman , banker in all bets :woohoo:
Race 9 : Punters could be in a " state of shock " after this race

Thanks for this - it was a year ago, and a direct comparison on time does not always work out - but one can't just ignore that form - the fact remains that Cosmic Highway ran in a faster time than Rio Querari carrying 2 kgs more than RQ - today will be receiving 5 kg; interesting though that CH was beaten almost 3 lengths by Seeking the Stars receiving 6.5 kg - granted over 1400 - today CH will receive only 4 kgs from StS; I'm also not convinced that CH is necessarily better over 1200 - to me I think he may be better over more ground (sire Gimmethegreenlight out of a Silvano mare) - but let's see what happens today - certainly need to include him if you believe RQ can be beaten

Hot summers day with a headwind.
Race 1 Trompie likely to improve on sparkling debut so looks the right one. We're Jamming the main danger. Gets quite open for the quartets after those two, and baby races always can throw up a result.
Race 2 Body Electric similarly should improve on excellent debut and should win. Philosophise, Spywing,Epsom Girl and Star in Winter all good form and scope to improve.
Race 3 Chrome Yellow and Bayberry should fight it out, but the two fillies on bottom weight, Flower of Saigon and Follow the Star are both capable of an upset.
Race 4 Warrior looks a worthy favourite, but this is a competitive field, and Fire Alley, My Bestie look lively dangers. Silver Operator a tough task at the weights, but could surprise as could Super Silvano or Rockin Ringo
Race 5 Rio Querari unlucky last time and I think will win today. Dangers are Seeking the Stars, Cosmic Highway and Trip of Fortune.
Race 6 Double Superlative should win if recovered from his Met effort. Pomp and Power and Universal are the dangers
Race 7 Princess Calla has no Captains Ransom to worry about here and should win. Amanzimtoti and Maria Querol are decent 3 yos and could challenge. I'll be shouting for Major Attraction to cause an upset. She is a 1400m specialist and should run in the money.
Race 8 Two thirds of the field unraced, so they should really think about the timing of this race next year. Owner P Somasundram bought shrewdly last year, and could get the trifecta with Shifting Path, Question Master and Certainly. I have a breeders interest in Aussenkehr and Quasimodo. Both very nice colts, and I would expect Aussenkehr to be the more forward. His full brother Lanza won on debut and was a smart sprinter. Quasimodo should need further.
race 9 The workriders are unlikely to feature at these weights and the only one that looks possible is Faire Advantage. Silent War looks the one to beat, but I'll put most of the professional jocks in the pick 6.

4 minutes to race 1 on Cape Derby Day and this is what the Win Dividend Trend depicts.
