Whilst these big days are always exciting to watch in terms of quality, I find there are always results that baffle me when I analyze them after the event, so I tend to play very small on them and just stick to value Each Way bets.

Race 10: The race conditions really favour #6 Nebraas here (2-1), so whilst I’m not one who gets involved in staying races on SA racing, I do think he really has this race at his mercy. He stays really well, but has also run well over shorter trips and he looks like TODAY’S BEST BET.

Respectfully disagree.

Those of us who consider ourselves experts and knowledgeable, I know you do and so do I, should have these huge pools at our mercy with a lot of silly money in the pools including tote mixing with overseas. We ARE the local experts and should consider, in my opinion, spending a little more to take advantage. There is enough run of the mill affairs happening during the week...Yes, there will be upsets but that's the nature of racing...even on, and, perhaps, especially on the big days. For me the silly money in the pools creates natural overlays from a pool perspective with many of these seasonal players betting a horse because they like it's name.

We are the sharks - let's take advantage, mate!

Respectfully disagree :P - imo overlays are far easier to find on a crappy meeting.

Contrary to the bullshit sales pitch of the operators, the overseas money is the 'smart' money.

:) Most of my better wins come from low grade meetings LOL, but as a racing fan I like to have a flutter on the big days!

I didn't say don't have a flutter. Just saying one has to be very careful about having too much confidence. This time of year everything is fit and trying, stables are at their tops and the raiders have added spice to the mix. p6 gonna pay rockets if you do beat Captain's Ransom and The Abdicator.
