I entered and received an email at 9pm last night saying that the compo was cancelled due to “technical issues”.
That same email promises to rectify and announce an “ exciting new competition for champions day”
They have really shot themselves in the foot.
The idea of competitions is a sound marketing concept, but it is stupid to charge an entry fee, particularly when one considers the takeout from the turnover generated by a successful competition of this type. The real reason to run it is promotional and to get people using the tote.

One of the reasons that I was happy to enter despite the annoyance of the R500 entry fee is that the tote have been running a promotion whereby up to R5000 deposit is matched for both new and existing customers. I have in recent years taken my tote bets via the Interbet platform as it’s convenient to do both fixed odds and tote bets in one place, but this obviously made sense to revive my dormant tote account, and I have been enjoying a period of betting with this gift money.

Good explanation Peter and the matched bonus is a great incentive.

However in the long run it gets nullified by the poor tote win and place dividends vs the bookmakers. (Mind you bookies place odds not great).

Plus how are the tote going to attract big hitters to accommodate 50 or 100 grand on a Win bet.

A typical example the tote is R1.70 and bookie 15/10 ......
If you put 100 grand on tote it goes R1.30.

How many small punters do you need to cover a few big hitters?

So my point is that you are playing with real money in this competition but you are invariably getting poor returns on your money 💰

.....the tote okes need to realize that they are no match for the bigger online bookies and many of us need to be coaxed back with much better service and incentives.....:huh:

This 4Q leadership has been clueless from day 1 and continue to make excuses “technical issues” for their uselessness.

Is 4Q able to mansplain, what constitutes “technical issues” to us simpletons that ultimately impeded this competition being rolled out!

Joke is not the prize money nor is it the announcements about nothingness, JOKE is the clueless 4Q bigwigs. What a waste.

I did have a look and just to use an example from the UK thread
BURGLAR is my best bet and very short
However it's 4/10 with WSB and HW and 3/10 with BETONTAB

Did not check local card and might not be a fair reflection.

Just a question also 6% deduction on fixed win bets ?

All fixed odds horse racing is subject to tax. Sports, no tax. As with most bonuses there is a minimum odds. I think its 0.5 or 0.8. You still can back under the minimum odds but it will not count towards the turnover. The prices are generally the same compared to others but in my opinion WSB offers you the best prices with only Betxchange coming close and will match it if you phone in.

Note, I never had a problem in getting my bonues from tab4racing/betontab or withdrawals. Also my emails is answered timeously. I use them mostly for Soccer Pools but Interbet gives you live updates on your Soccer Pool bets to show you if your selections are winning, losing or drawing which gives Interbet at a slight advantage.

Deposited just now - and then was trying to send the mail .... then started looking for my account number (I was logged in already when I did the deposit - and don't want to risk logging out feraing that I would need my account number to log in again) .... NOWHERE ON THAT USELESS WEBSITE IS AN ACCOUNT NUNBER DISPLAYED .... did log a support call - let's see

Your account number should be your login username. Thats mine in my case.

Happy to report my deposit yesterday was matched - had to go back in my e-mail history to find my account number though - still find it strange that it is not displayed anywhere when you transact - anyway - happiness for now

It seems there is a lot of negativity about this betontab website and I don’t know why
Their fixed odds betting is some of the best around – they offer 9/10 on rugby h’cap lines
They bet to the lowest % in SA soccer that you can find (104 to 105%) – all the other sharks bet to 109+ and their double chance odds are absolutely accurate.
In running betting is great and they bet to 105% - better than 99% of other books
They have a loyalty bonus – I don’t play tote bets at all and still get it
About 3 weeks ago I cashed in R1400 and yesterday took another R1250 – free and gratis with no other T’s and C’s.
Not bad to get R3000 bonus on turnover in a month – anyone know of another bookie that gives this gratis moola?
Also don’t know what was wrong with the cancelled punters comp – R500 entry to win thousands? – the only negative is that you have to bet on so many races to qualify, but I suppose they do need to create some turnover
