.....a bit of a grey day.....and fell behind yesterday trying to grind a profit out of the more favorable results .... then totally shot my bolt in Singapore and don't think I can make a recovery........so let me throw all my pearls while I keep my powder dry....
Race1 Plenty support for the nicely bred Pettigrew 2yr old no 8 and good to see him get support from Varsfontien who now retain the 1st filly produced by this proven mating....but rather rare for the trainer to send them out this early so she must be a real cracker....but I take it on with my late Dad's protégé Erico Veronese's charge no 3with now fair exposed form in the softer conditions....
Race 2 Here the favorite no 1 should oblige but looking for the 2yr old 1st timer no 9 to run a forward race as this trainer seldom debut's them this young either and over a bit of ground...
Race 3 Here trainer Johan Janse van Rensburg seems to have this race at his mercy....but I like the Tarry charge no 4 to upstage this lot.....big disclaimer here as he could win it with any other....:S
Race 4 Here leaning towards the consistent bridesmaid Paton's Tears who despite being a 1st foal has shown a bit of latent genetic ability and may make a decent broodmare....but Joey Soma's horses today may be as competitive if he has managed to put decent work into them....
Race 5 I like Strydom's chances here no1... but would say the race could produce a bit of an upset....best to go wide with field and the scratching as there could be late support for the one that has worked and may relish ....
Race 6 Here Shoemaker looks the part and being conditioned for bigger things....but I add Soma's charge who I rated genetically and have made some nice lolly on....
Race 7 Here I like the Magner pair....the real roughie of the 2 may be in to set a decent trot but may like the ground ....but wide open so anything here again....
Race 8 Here the JJVR fav no 2 and Fanie Bronkhorst's no 3 are both knocking on the door for their 3rd win....but be careful of last week's shock winner Severide who may not have been a total shock to the trainer as it may have been already nominated for this lowly handicap before shedding the maiden....
