Amazing win by Puerto Manzano - everything just fell into place - unexpectedly though as he started at 20/1, while the stable mate (Bingwa) was supported; Cousin Casey again the bridesmaid but a very encouraging run - on form in the KZN Guineas he should have been soundly beaten by Melech; very good runs by both Bless My Stars and WInchester Mansion, who both showed that they are worthy of their ratings; Marigold Hotel very disappointing - but seeing her drifting to 50/1 tells it all
Expected duel between Main Defender and Sandringham Summit, where the 1kg weight advantage for MD turned out to be the difference - The Africa House showed marked improvement, but I would not be overly bullish of him improving further over more ground - being by What a Winter out of a Trippi mare
Egyptian Mau turned out the best filly in the Princess Charlene, especially encouraging for the connections in that she is expecting to improve further from this effort
Dyce - what a sprinter - if they can keep him sound, he could still feature against the best
And as expected (despite everyone and their dogs being in the corner of Royal Guide), SIlent War showed that he is still improving - but let's see what the Handicapper does ....
