But it would - lesser jocks would now be well aware that if they make similar transgressions then the axe would fall(often when your horse is 12 lenghths behind they stop riding saying that the horse had no chance to earn so why punish the horse) - that is crap as the owner and trainer need to see a true reflection so that they can decide the next step in the process and the horse will be a fitter horse with a proper ride under it's belt - it seems that the NHRA has stepped up it's enforcement of rules which can only enhance the game -

Titch, you not makin sense pal. If he is found guilty he must do the time. Full stop. What you think would happen to Manne or even me if I was found guilty? Because Anton is a top rider that tries his best does that mean he deserves a verbal warning and another jockey gets the mandotory sentence? Personally I think the horse would of got beaten anyway but thats not the issue here, the issue is, if his found guilty of contravening a rule he gets time.

I had money on Albert so i was happy that the right horsie won. Both Jocks did a bang up job of creating one of the better finishes to a race ive seen for the while.
I think let this one go the horsie got tired.

Mark im not saying he should get priviledged treatment because he is a top rider(which i explained in my post) what i am saying is his record should be taken into account when deciding on the sentence...

Manna gets harshly treated for this kind of offence because he is reknown for "gearing down" Anton on the other hand is normally vigorous in a finish be it fighting out a winning position or trying to get up for 4th...

There are set sentences for these things, I think the sentence for costing 1st place is 3 months no matter who you are.

Jockey Willie Uys has incurred a six-week ban (three weeks suspended for six months on condition that he is not found guilty of a similar offense during that period) for not riding Zili out to the finish and costing her third place at Fairview on 5 December. Uys pleaded guilty but may appeal against the penalty.
Apprentice Roby Bheekary has incurred a six-week term on the sidelines (three weeks suspended for six months providing he is not found guilty of a similar offense during that period) for not riding King Lu out to the finish line, costing the gelding third place, at Fairview on 5 December. He pleaded guilty but may appeal against the penalty
APL i would give anton the option of paying a fine (related to earnings that he would have accrued during the six-weeks the two above got and donated to the horse care unit - if it is within the rules)

Titch, Im not saying I agree with Anton gettin 3 months. Like I said I believe the horse was beaten anyway and made no difference to the result. What I am saying is, if a jockey is found guilty of 'putting his hands down, slack riding, taking it easy' and he gets beat for 1st place the sentence is 3 months.
