Tony McCoy close to 3,000 winners!

McCoy quest for winners haulted by heavy rain
CHAMPION JOCKEY Tony McCoy was left frustrated in his quest for a landmark haul of victories after Wednesday afternoon's meeting at Leicester was abandoned due to waterlogging.
McCoy needs three more winners to secure 3,000 National Hunt triumphs in Britain and Ireland.
The 13-time champion jockey had four attractive rides at Leicester - all of which are trained by Jonjo O'Neill and run in the colours of his boss, JP McManus.
But a night of heavy rain meant the all-chase fixture had to be called off due to waterlogging.
McCoy said: "That's not helped my cause. I'll have to wait until tomorrow and have another go then.
"It would have been nice to have done it today because JP McManus is my boss and has been very loyal to me. He has been a great man to work for.
"I would really like to do it in his colours, if at all possible," he told Radio Five Live.
Despite having secured a double at Kempton on Monday, McCoy was also out of luck with two bookings at Taunton on Tuesday.
Jokers Legacy finished second, while Larks Lad was pulled up

Tony stills need 3 he has 3 mounts at Chepstow today.
Gabreselassie, Fourball and Man of the Moment.
Sure he would be happy with one, has to make the big day a Sat, and be riding for McManus?

Must admit, I was watching the race when they switched to Dubai and Jimmy gave the result, and was surprised he did not win as he was going well, and I see he was given the winner on Interbet. Magic!
So he has 2 to go, guess one today and a selected race on Sat for his boss?

The man is at Sandown today, but you will have to wait a bit for his mounts Eric's Charm and Good Company, neither strongly fancied.
However when you are waiting, you can punt Optimus Maximus and Celestial Halo.
good punting!

McCoy reveals best chances for 3,000th win
TONY McCOY said on Friday that he reckons Good Company at Sandown on Saturday and Burton Port at Fontwell on Sunday are his best chances this weekend of registering the two winners required to record his 3,000th success.
He was frustrated once again by the weather on Friday, with overnight rain washing out the Chepstow meeting where he had three booked rides. Two of them, Man Of The Moment and Fourball, were favourites in the Racing Post's betting forecast.
And late on Friday night, he lost one of his three Saturday rides when Afrad was declared a non-runner.
"Afrad wouldn't be running, he's lame tonight," Nicky Henderson told racingpost.com on Friday night.
The 13-times champion's two rides will be for different trainers, Oliver Sherwood's course-and-distance winner Eric's Charm in the 3.45 handicap chase and Jonjo O'Neill's Good Company, a recent Haydock winner owned by McCoy's boss, J P McManus.
"I would think Good Company is my best chance of a winner, though perhaps Eric's Charm will do something too," said McCoy.

McCoy heads to Fontwell needing two for 3,000
THE milestone is still to be met, but another slice of history could be his on Sunday, when Tony McCoy heads to Fontwell in pursuit of winner number 3,000.
Two chances came and went at Sandown, but a further two are there to be taken at Fontwell, where, weather permitting, the most successful jump jockey of all time will be watched by expectant supporters, racegoers, camera crews and journalists as he bids to move his career total of jumping victories to 3,000.
McCoy's chance of reaching the magic figure at Sandown evaporated when the front-running Eric's Charm was brutally brushed aside in the fifth race by Can't Buy Time, a horse normally partnered by the 13-time champion jockey.
Unfortunately for McCoy, he could not achieve the 10st weight given to the JP McManus-owned winner, whose stablemate Good Company, wearing the same McManus silks, carried McCoy into fifth place in the Sandown nightcap.
"It's not really been a frustrating day," said McCoy. "Eric's Charm ran well, but I knew Jonjo's would be tough to beat. To be fair to JP, he got it spot on and didn't fancy Good Company at all. Both my rides at Fontwell have good chances."
His first mount has a very good chance. The Nicky Henderson-trained Burton Port was steered by McCoy to a decisive success at Hereford two weeks ago and is quoted at just 11-10 in the Racing Post forecast to add to that win in Fontwell's 2.10pm contest.
Two hours later, McCoy partners the lightly raced Blue Teal for Henrietta Knight in a handicap hurdle in which the seven-year-old is forecast to be 5-1 second favourite.
Should McCoy not hit 3,000 on Sunday, he will try again on Monday at either Southwell, where he last night had three booked mounts for Jonjo O'Neill, or Lingfield, where he is jocked up in one race for Mark Rimell.
