Strydom tactics on omega warrior

I know it's easy to critisize jockeys - but is anyone else a bit suprised at the way Strydom rode Omega Warrior ?

No, thought he had it well placed, came for his run with a couple of hundred meters to go and the horse gave nothing.

I agree JAP fought the horse whole race to keep it covered up. Of course it had nothing to come.

Must admit JAP, I never study form, so no idea how the horse runs?
Was just my opinion watching the race.

Dave,
The horse is a strong front runner, dropping in distance 200 metres. Strydom as JAP pointed out takes almost everything to the front.
I can't picture such an astute trainer as Sean Tarry telling him " Look the horse has got winning form as a front-runner, but lets try tuck him in, wait for someone to skip, then chase them." LOL
(I'm saying this by the way and i lost nothing on the race. I just think whether we are right or wrong, as a matter of transparency, it would be great to know what the stable think of the ride)

JAP, I'd just like to inform you that Spies is NOT a punting stable, but of course that does not stop their owners ( i.e. Marlon & co ) from having a good punt from time to time.

Whatever the opinion of the ride, what was unacceptable was that post race, some irate punter wearing a cowboy hat (George Bush family?), attacked Strydom in the winners enclosure. Luckily the attempted punch(es) struck Strydom crop which he raised to defend himself. Then a flying Greek trainer, displaying a surprising turn of foot chased the attacker before security dragged him away.
Not sure what security measures taken at the track but this cannot be allowed to happen again as serious injury can/could have followed.
